Regarding the whole CD interview fiasco - can you just imagine the Freddie rage that would have occurred if this had happened while he was alive? Surely a flock of champagne glasses and a champagne bucket would have been hurled in someone's direction! If I close my eyes - I can hear those items crashing against the wall at QPL!

Just got my copy from mailbox today.
Firts impression: Beautiful, well designed book.
Ok then. First thing I read is an error. On the very second page of text, as a caption for The Hectics picture it says:
Freddie with his school band The Hectics in Panchgani, India, 1968.
How come a bizarre mistake like that in the very first pages?

As promised, here's the full email I received from Outside Line in response to my query about the incomplete CD. I did go back to them to state that I thought they were (to quote Freddie) "talking through here"!!!
As stated in my earlier post, they are trying to make out that they only now know that the interview was longer, have only now got the full file, and offer no apology - it's almost as if they think they are doing me a favour!! (and no, I'm not "pleased to know that this is available as a free download"; I want it on CD and not in reduced quality mp3!!!)
You'll notice that I have removed the link for fear of this being seen as "official" material, but I believe that someone else has already posted the link under another thread.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Chris
In response to your communication about the CD in 40 Years of Queen, we have been made aware that the BBC broadcast more of Tom Browne’s 1977 interview with the band than is available on the CD in the book.
We have now obtained all the original sound files and have edited them into the full interview.
You will be pleased to know that this is available as a free download below. In order to download this audio file direct to your computer please right click on the link below:

In the meantime you are enjoying the book and its unique collection of memorabilia.

It's the second choice, however it's presented in black & white and more of a post card size.

It's the second choice, however it's presented in black & white and more of a post card size. And with 'EMI' printed on it which I find a bit curious for a North American item.

If Freddie was alive this would probably not happened. Sure he was alive when the RARE CRAP video came out but some heads were rolling

Hm ... amazon.co.uk says about "40 Years of Queen (AN OFFICIAL PUBLICATION)": "Item Under Review - This product is not currently offered by Amazon.co.uk because a customer recently told us that the item he or she received was not as described. We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. In the meantime, you may still find this product available from other sellers on this page."
And the German version should have been released some 4 weeks ago. But it's still not available. Anybody knows the reasons?

I don´t know, but I received the spanish edition the other day and it´s a disgrace.
The outter box is not included; so the covers are not printed with those beautiful AG / Live Aid pictures, but in black with the silver Queen crest as in the outter box of the english edition instead. As I said, a fucking disgrace, because I´ve paid the same for an inferior product. And even you can read on the cover: "commemorative box" ... where´s the box ???
If it had been well advertised that foreign editions weren´t the same standard as the original, I wouldn´t have purchased it.
Not to mention the interview CD is also incomplete.
Another 40th Anniversary mess.

Down to 15 quid in HMV - I got myself a second copy so I can really play with the other one to destruction. A great book. Wouldn't mind the link to the whole interview though, it's a lovely programme.

Just seen it in The Works (UK cheapo book store) for £10. Can't believe it's there already...

Nice to see GT spend plenty of time bringing this book to our attention, with all the nice pictures uploaded to promote it... but when we have questions concerning mistakes and potential fixes... where has he gone???

Yeah, I got my copy from there earlier... was in buying snow in a can and seen it at £10 and snapped it up. Wasn't planning on buying it as well, but really glad I did as it's very good value for £10 (even minus the mistakes already mentioned above).
Pretty cool that I got to buy it in a shop called The Works too he he

What can I say? If they'd not cocked up on the CD, I doubt it would be in the Works as quickly as it has.
Personally I'm digusted that they STILL haven't sorted out a return and replace scheme.
