i am just so disappointed. brian and roger, it is time to retire! there is no 'Queen' without freddie mercury and john deacon. if brian and roger think this will create a new fan base for Queen, they are sadly mistaken. they will simply lose all their existing fans who truly love Queen and freddie. who wants to listen to adam lambert singing freddie's songs? i am not wasting any more time or money on Queen.
'Goodbye everybody, I've got to go'....can't face adam lambert with 'Queen'!

I for one will not be going to Knebworth. A big F****** field in Stevenage. I'm hoping for smaller venues, indoor gigs.
I for one would rather see Brian May/Roger Taylor tour playing Queen rarely played songs with vocals shared between the 2. A real treat for Queen fans like me who long to hear some seventies stuff live again.

He has the *capacity* to be one, which is what made his guesting with Queen the last time so fuckin' offensive to the ears.
Lambert has the voice and the control to do a good show, and instead he ... fuck, there isn't a word for that audio train wreck he foisted on us.[/QUOTE] Depends what great singer means to any one of us I think. Lambert is a one trick pony, and if you don't like that trick there's little there to grab onto. Nobody can sing rock and roll from the outside in because of all the genres it is the one that is the least forgiving of inauthenticity. He could be in perfect voice and exquisite control and I think most of us would still be left dissatisfied and unmoved because in a way that's difficult to articulate precisely there is just no there there. He either doesn't know or doesn't care who he really is as an artist, preferring to underwhelm with a flimsy rock god act for which he is poorly suited.

I nominate GratefulFan for post of the year. That's my thing too, absolutely zero emotional heft in his voice. He has range, but doesn't know how to sing. Pete Townshend, for example, has a fraction of Adam Lambert's vocal gifts, but is an exponentially better singer.
How many of Adam Lambert's performances have you seen to judge that he is not good? Just curious.

Now, I really like Adam Lambert but I agree that the EMAs wasn't one of his best performances. But Roger and Brian asked him last minute and he had virtually no time to rehearse. Anyway, I much prefer when he covers Bowie.

or one of his own songs

and he doesn't take himself too seriously

and last but not least, one of my favs, raw, pre-fame Adam.

I'm done now.

I pray that David Bowie doesn't click on that link for fear Brian's curse gets him. That Bowie medley was a joke, he moves like a Broadway chorus line member and his voice is nice, but for me, has zero grit or soul. Seriously. He hasn't lived anything that he's singing so I don't know how he can feel it.

I wonder if Deaky would consider playing with Mark Knopfler ? - they both hate the celebrity side of the business, and the Knop has no intention of ever reforming Dire Straits. They could start a new group of musicians who hold onto their integrity and dignity...

jazzy mercurois fuck off. you're remarks about pr are disgusting. His work with Free and Bad Company alone have given him great respect in the rock world even if you didnt like his Q+pr work. Lambert is the very c lebrity who is nothing more than a karoake singer and not a very good one.

People defending Adam Lambert in this thread fills me with confusion... It's interesting to note that most of said people have only 1-3 posts.
In all seriousness, I like that we get to hear Brian and Roger play, I don't like that we get to hear Adam Lambert shitting over the top of them. It doesn't seem that odd because they've been doing retarded Queen+ things for years, but imagine Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr playing a gig with Katy Perry, or something to that effect. It's embarrassing when you put it into perspective that way.

Yep. He sounds a bit like Sebastian Bach. Can hit (some of) the notes but it just doesn't sound good. Personal opinion of course: to others it obviously sounds great. But it doesn't do anything for me.
