His vibrato is the epitome of subtlety ;)

Ah, Gratful Fan, finally someone who's done his homework about us. Partially. First, up that core fan group to between one and two million internationally. Second, we weren't REALLY going to buy him a Maserati. But we have raised over a million dollars for various charities in his name. I am almost as puzzled as you are as to how I developed this "obsession" but I'm not alone! The female fans I have met are largely very intelligent, successful women. I've met fans at concerts that have traveled from all over the world to concert venues in the US just to see Adam perform. His stage charisma is incredible. His vocals are usually point on night after night. But more than that, we love him as a person. He is smart, funny, driven, humble, very kind, good looking, great fashion sense, treats his fans well. And, yes, we love the
GLAMBULGE as we affectionately call it. He is more like Elvis than Freddie. So I guess our obsession is part maternal, part Mrs. Robinson fantasy, your best girlfriend and a hot lover all rolled up into one. But it was the VOICE initially captured our attention. Now you know the inner workings of a Glambert's mind.:)

P.S. I've been initially disappointed with all the singles the've released. There's much better music on the album. But EVERY time he does a song live, it's better than the recorded version and he changes it up every time.

Millions of crazy Adam fans? My goodness. I hope the Queen fans will be able to get a ticket.

As a fellow Adam fan, I'm completely with you on that one, I haven't been very enthusiastic about the singles he's released either, with the exception of If I Had You, FYE was much too electronic for me, and WWFM was a bit boring. I still helped promote them though because that is the only way the album would get promoted, and I figure that those were released in the hope that radio would like and play them. Adams own songs on the album are always better than the singles but they are also a bit more unusual and maybe not so radio friendly.
Broken Open is my favourite from FYE, and Down the Rabbit Hole is my second favourite.

However when Adam sings ANYTHING live it immediately takes on a whole other aspect and I even fell in love with WWFM on the Acoustic Live album.

Give Adam a chance, for all you people out there slagging the guy off, have a listen to FYE,he has a great voice.I think he will do well with Brian and Roger,i also think he will have a good stage pescence. He will certainly move around a lot more than Paul Rodgers did on stage.

agreed. "Wayne's World" used authentic Queen music and they were huge for a bit. The Paul Rodgers years didn't help them or enhance anything. It was good for what it was but they shouldn't have called themselves Queen. The Lambert thing is very puzzling. I think they honestly believe a flamboyant gay man with a big voice is what they need. Maybe that's true but Lambert's voice just doesn't have the right tone. This helps Lambert waaaaaay more than Queen. Lambert's career is on a decline already in the US. Most Idol contestants flame out after one album. Lambert has now been given 15 more minutes of fame. I would respect them much more if they recorded new songs instead of another Karaoke revue of Queen's hits. Not saying it's a good idea but at least it wouldn't seem so half-assed.

I think everybody has gone and listened to plenty of AL's music, which has further cemented the rejection of him as fronting Queen. Most say he can sing and has some talent but find it almost surreal that he's going to get to front Queen.

What's the big deal either way? If he pulls a rabbit out of the hat and actually does a good show (as opposed to that crap he did last time) then the very worst thing that'll happen is that a bunch of Queen fans will be wrong.

The onus is on him to deliver for a change.

^ I guess the big deal, if there is one, is that for everything significant and time consuming they do there's potentially something else that's not being done. It's just disappointing is all.

The upside is that my expectations are so low that it won't take anything at all to exceed them. There's little reason to think he'll do anything other than the 'crap he did last time'.  That's what he sounds like.  That's who he is, and that's who Brian and Roger hired.

Anyway, I'm boring myself to death on this subject. It's just that it's been hard to understand for some time now how the insticts that built such a great musical legacy veered off so sharply from the instincts of so many of the people that know that output the best and so deeply admire, respect and appreciate it. Impossible subject to determine a 'right' or a 'wrong' but I just miss the passion of loving what these guys do.

Her homework. :)  And since I now know the inner workings of a Glambert's mind that makes us best friends and we can't lie to each other.  So let's start with acknowledging that the seeds of that Maserati purchase absolutely were serious and 100% real.  I remember it well and can link to evidence, but I'd rather not because it's documented for all time at a place that is rather disparaging to fans.  However it is to the group's credit that a crazy idea of a few was quickly substituted for a good idea of many, and one of the clear benefits of an older fan base is the ability for people with disposable income to make a real difference.  So a sincere congratulations on the charitable contributions Lambert fans's have amassed in his honour.

I didn't mean to imply that Adam only has a few thousand score of dedicated fans, only that the core that goes bananas trying to manipulate the numbers for him is more limited.  If it wasn't, one or two million people buying 50 copies of a CD and hammering on votes and polls and internet links for dozens of hours in any given week would make more of a mark.  I understand the passion, but I am taken aback a little at openness of the manipulation. It's like a whole hive mind has completely lost the ability to even wonder if trying to run the music industry from one's den is either normal or ethical.

I"m really bad for making unilateral statements like "he has no real feeling/charisma/connection" like I"ve got the last word on it. LOL @ me.  These things, like the superlatives about his character and the contribution of the 'GLAMBULGE' (!) to the net hotness of the planet, are of course entirely subjective.   I do get that he genuinely inspires and thrills many people, and I'm glad for you on that front. It's a nice feeling.  Enjoy whatever comes out of Sonisphere. But just remember every time you're thrilling over that scream or that vibrato or that eye scalding thing he does with his hips, I"ll be somewhere dying a little inside.

I don't really like either Paul Rogers or Adam Lambert. But, I think Lambert will do justice to the songs more so than Rogers. Let's just wait to see how it comes off.

Ah, Grateful Fan, now you are making me feel sad for all the Queen fans who have lost their beloved and I hope some artist some day reinspires your passion. Yes, Adam is polarizing. You either love him or (almost) hate him. I have a bad habit of trying to make others "see the Adam light," much to the chagrin of my friends, family and sometimes complete strangers. I only hope he puts on a good show for everyone at Sonisphere. It is probably selfish for us Glamberts to want to bask in this moment since it is hurtful to Queen fans and we have a brand new Adam album and tour to look forward to so I'll go back to my Glambert world. But if you ever decide to visit us, I promise youll have a blast!
P.S. at the Academy Awards Adam is sitting at the table with Elton John and Smokey Robinson. He is very well liked and respected among fellow artists. Okay. done. come visit at Adam lambert aikenforums. We'll make you feel welcome.

Thanks for the thoughts. :) No worries - the news hasn't gone over like a lead balloon everywhere in Queen fandom. As you've seen here some are looking forward to it or reserving judgement. For the gazillions out there who are casual fans of the band this is great news and the decision probably serves the immediate interests of the majority out there just fine. For the rest of us there's plenty in an amazing catalogue that nobody can ever change to still feel passionate about.

And for the record, I don't think Lambert proselytizing is a bad habit at all. :) It's natural that when we like or love something to want to share it, like a gift. Except sometimes that gift is like 365 day old fruitcake that nobody wants. lol

Anyway, pop over any time with updates or thoughts or whatever, and enjoy the new album.
