That's hilarious. I don't know anyone outside that forum who thinks McCartney is one of the world's greatest singers.
"Queen is the only band in the world that can play so heavily that your nose bleeds, then offer a silk handkerchief to clean up with."

It'd be pretty funny if we'd all go over there and vote for Freddie:-)

It's a funny read. A similar topic on here would give completely the opposite reactions:-)

Queen are the biggest and best band artists 'official'
Best Singer: Freddie Mercury
Best Guitarist: Brian May for unique sound and musicianship
Best Bass: John Deacon - wished he was still playing but I guess all good things must end at some point.
Roger Taylor: Top 3 Drummer with Bonham and Phil Collins.

This is bullshit!
Who really cares nothing about PMC fans? Of course they prefer Mr. Rodgers voice and style, because is similar to McCartney. Maybe they think Queen and Freddie are too exotic and bombastic. But who cares? The rest of the world (minus America and homophobic nazis) are with Fred.
This post is in the ''serious'' discussion??? This must be in ''Ridiculous'' discussion.

What a crock!!!!!! McCartney having a good voice let alone better than Mercury??? He always sounds like he has a cold when he sings, very nasaly and boring!!

fans will be fans...but any objective listener would recognize Freddie's voice is superior. McCartney never places on "Best Singers" lists though he does have a pleasant voice and was a terrific songwriter.

I fully agree about Mercury and May, but Deacon and Taylor are a bit of an exaggeration - brilliant and unique as they are.

Deacon does not compare to Geddy Lee or Chris Squire. And Taylor doesn't quite measure up to Neil Peart, Bill Bruford or Phil Collins.

And that's just within rock. There are jazz players and studio musicians who could play circles around all of them.

That said - the four men that comprised Queen were perfect for each other, and all are lacking without each other.

Mercury has better range and is technically speaking a better singer, though I like McCartney's voice just as much.

That unique chemistry is so precious...and sadly - after Freddie's passing and John's retirement - that is for a big part gone...
