So they missed the opportunity to remaster the original album then, nevermind giving us a surround mix of it.
The less said about the CD of previously released demos the better.
What a massive wasted Opportunity.
Once again it's something for NEW customers and not the fans :(

Well I'll be damned... Stop me if you've heard this before, but, I asked for this. About 3-4 years ago, I sent a question to Brian May via his website. I basically asked whether Barcelona would ever be updated with a proper orchestra as the keyboard sounds were sounding dated. Cue my shock when I saw this album promo from Queenonline in my inbox!
So, I'm curious, did anyone else ask for this "update" to happen?

I'm excited about this new orchestra mix. I'm not excited about the deluxe format content. Could have been so much better.
- Add the new found songs from the Italian Fanclub: Grand Dame and the other ones to the extra disc.
- Add the interview from Informe Sene..... from Spanish television from 1987 wih Freddie and Montsy and the Press Release interview from 1988 in London in full glory.

Could be interesting, but not at that price. I might check it out in a few years :P
The link in the original post just says "CD + DVD" right now, by the way.

personally, i am THRILLED to hear this re-orchestrated version. I love the original album, but have felt recently that some of the keyboard sounds (particularly on the Overture) were sounding dated... this is great news to me

I'm OVER THE MOON with this release!! I'm a huge fan of the Freddie and Montserrat collaboration (Freddie was right about her capabilities, WHAT A VOICE)
Also, the press release and EPK are fantastic aswell. This is the way to go!
Can't wait to get my copy.

It's pretty odd that they changed the artwork in the first place - not something you typically do when reissuing an album.. By that I mean change it completely, as opposed to modify it (e.g. All Things Must Pass monochrome/colour)

It should sound great, but I'm interested in why Mike Moran is not responsible for the reworking?
Incidentally, whilst Freddie co-wrote the tracks, what other point is there in the instrumental version of the new orchestral version being put out in his name? It'll be Mike Moran's piano, the new orchestra, and Freddie won't be on it!?!

To be honest I'm not fussed on the original artwork or this alternative.

Uhm...you do realise that Freddie and Montserrat will be singing over the new orchestra, right? It's a reworking of the orchestra, combined with the original vocals and piano work.

Well bravo to them for adding a real orchestra. I'm impressed. If I wasn't temporarily banned from QOL I'd say something positive to them LOL.
This a "new release" in many respects. Not sure if I'll spring for the Deluxe version though.

This will be a definite purchase for me, but hopefully the deluxe edition price will drop a bit.
I wish the artwork was better though, I guess they're keeping with a similar style to "Love Of Life Singer Of Songs".

Yeah, but you can't put a big 'ol gal on an album cover these days.
