to be exact, the hungarian collector who actually found the negative reels
So you actually FOUND them ? GREAT job ! But maybe we should continue via email :-)

The complete footage does NOT exist. What they (QPL)have, is what we can see. It might be annoying but anyone expecting to see a 100% complete Budapest show better start preparing themselves for the reality now.
The reality will be QUEEN IN THE CINEMA! - it's all good (as Ian Fletcher would say)

I'm hoping they will find all the Budapest negative reels some day.
But,I'm even more hoping they'll release Hammy'79 one day soon.
Remember: It has also been said that the multi track for Hammy'79 was lost.
Now, recently I've heard rumours that this multi track has been found. I'm now hoping for a Hammy'79 release one day soon:-)
In my estimation the multi track Hammy'79 is even more important than the uncut video of Budapest '86...
A double Hammy DVD would be the ultimate Christmas present for me:-) (certainly if they also release cd versions:-)

to be exact, the hungarian collector who actually found the negative reels , as QPL had no f*king idea where they are. I am happy they make a lot of money now with the cinema release worldwide, I am still waiting for a 2 word "thank you" email from QPL , yes if i sound pissed off its because i am. The unused reels were not trashed in 1986, but thats a different story and i have to shut up my mouth i was asked haha.
could one surmise, then, that perhaps the negatives Miklos found are the source for the HD transfer and cinematic release of the original edit... but that a complete version of the concert is being prepped for forthcoming dvd/blu ray release from unused reels that QPL DID have in their archives? I'm reading between your last few lines of course...

I'll be great to watch the edit in high def though;-)

would the show have been edited by cutting up the negative in 1986, or would they have dupped all the footage first and then edited it from the copies?

Whilst my abilities, or otherwise, at unearthing material is not the question in hand, the ability of those tasked with doing so is. Numerous discussions here over the years, and backed up by their own words and actions, does sadly point very much to a lot of obvious steps in tracking down and retrieving material are not always taken when they should be.

So QP transfered the digital version to HD and not the original mastertapes. That may the reason for the edited tracklist

Any film is edited by cutting up the negative, then making positive copies. As the negative edit was found in top form, that probably means we will see a perfect transfer from the very original film shot , even without the ugly yellow credits because it might not be on the negative, only the positive transfer. I am sure with the transfer quality everyone will be happpy, either it was done by the hungarian film laboratory or in london by someone else, i have no clue - but in both cases I assume it is a 4K HD transfer, so with the picture and the sound everyone will be happy. The "lost" footage is lost because nobody cared for it when it was still there. Thats all i can say.
