Togg wrote: That's why most people do leave. Honestly there is no REAL conversation about musical talent on this site anymore.
I'm all for people sharing an opinion, we are all intitled to do that, but what I hate is the constant moaning about everyone that works with Queen, God if they dug John Lennon up and got him singing with Queen people would still moan about the fact he was not Freddie.
The fact is most people here cant add constructive critisium because all they seem to be able to do is slag off artists that are either already on top of there game (Paul Rodgers) or up and coming (Lambert) they dont add anything to the discussion they just talk bollocks about the fact they didnt sing the song the same way Freddie did. It's total bollocks.
I can appreciate someone that can discuss WHY they dont like something or someone, but not the constant jump on the band wagon and slag off everything and everyone because it's not the way it used to be.
The irronie is most who do were not even alive when Freddie was so they have no real knowledge of what it was to be a Queen fan in the 70's or 80's as the band grew.
Fact is Paul Rodgers was amazing, he did it his way and did it well.
Same with Lambert. Jessie J certainly did it her way but she still has a lot to learn about controlling her vocal and not over-singing a song, but yes she can sing. I personally didnt like her version but I still felt it was a good stab given the way she works.
Lets have a bit of balance here for a change and not just the same old boring bollocks about why nobody can replace Freddie..... Boring
This ^

Err.. if you want a conversation about musical talent on the site, start a conversation about musical talent. Much better idea than moaning about supposed moaning of others. Don't expect everyone to agree with you though, especially when we're talking about the likes of Dappy, Jessie-J and 5ive.
Anyway, I'm surpised no one noticed Brian's tribute to Eric Idle and Monty Python at the Olympics. I mean, that's what his coat was, wasn't it? I would've chosen llamas and spam rather than badgers and foxes, but each to his own.

Exactly.

Well that would be a good plan if this were any other site...

Great post Togg, but particularly this part.
There used to be a lot more quality discussion here, but most of those people have left because what once was a small minority of inane posters adding nothing to the discussion have slowly taken over the ship.
The "no moderation" policy has ultimately not been effective. I admire the mentality behind the policy, but in reality it just does not work. When new members join the forum, they take notice of the level of quality and contribute accordingly. If it were made clear from the outset that people who contributed nothing of value (I realize this term is relative) were filtered out, new members would think twice before offering anything but meaningful contribution to the discussion.

Will all the moaners on this website stop complaining about anything or any what, god damn it! Appreciate what you get; Accept that Freddie Mercury died 20 years ago and that new material will never reach the standard of what was produced in the 70's or 80's! Is this queenzone or fucking queenmoan??!
Who the fuck are you anyway? Did you ever contribute something to this site? Ever taped a Queen / Queen related concert? Or shared a concert?
Dude, this isn't the announce forum. The sharing of concert recordings is just one of many things that happen here.
If you think there should be more recordings at the announce forum, then add something. But it's not a price of admission for every forum member. This place doesn't revolve around you.

Speaking of Eric Idle... I found it quite sad that the best act of the night (in terms of performance, sound quality, and overall entertainment) was Eric Idle. You'd expect everyone to try their best and really make an effort with a once in a lifetime event like this. :/

Hey, I have an idea for you. Why don't you start a 'Queen +..' forum? This is a 'Queen' forum, and if you have ever seen Freddie do a live show you will realise why we bitch and moan when other singers just don't get it. Brian and Roger performing as 'Queen' with some of these other singers is just ridiculous. I love watching Brian and Roger; but not with some random singer caterwauling and warbling and I just cannot pretend that I am watching 'Queen'. Again, it does not feel like 'Queen' without John Deacon as well. It was terrific watching Freddie's warm up at the Olympics, and terrific even listening to Brian's guitar solo (even if it is old; but then so is Brian). But if you imagine you are hearing the 'Queen' sound with AL or Jessie J or anybody else... no way!
Unfortunately, you cannot resurrect 'Queen' without Freddie and John. Just my opinion.

Queen + forum, good idea but not sure it would be supported..? I agree, was great seeing Freddie vid at closing and hearing the crowd, also did enjoy Brians solo.

You bet! It has been proved over and over again that Freddie is the better singer and performer. John Lennon is a huge legend as well, and I'd love to get a chance to see him perform. But as a live performer? And singing the 'Queen' sound? Freddie, Freddie, Freddie. Remember we are talking about singing with Queen.

The "Queen + Paul Rogers Tour" section here isn't getting a lot of traffic. Why not make that a general Queen+ section?

It's not as simple as that. You've set up a strawman argument (everything said on Queenzone is negative), In fact, as we're all fans, of course we're going to listen to new stuff that Brian and Roger put out and of course we're going to comment on it, good or bad. So the "don't listen to it" argument is both stupid and unrealistic. Now the problem comes when people like you don't like what is said and you then try to close down the conversation with moronic topics and transparently false arguments like this.
Now .. people might be excited and more positive if Brian and Rog put as much energy into releasing, say, Earls Court or Houston as they do courting fame and fortune with Adam Camembert (soft, creamy, cheesy) and Jessie J (who?). Give us something to be excited about and my raspberrys will, I'm sure, stand to attention as requested. But until then it's mostly yawns, sarcasm, nipples you couldn't hang a budgie's hat on, and awful jokes from me.
