[shallow]I like Roger's clean-shaven look and hope he keeps it a while.[/shallow]

Considering I thought it was going to be WWRY+JesseJ, followed by a hologram Fred singing WATC, Brian's guitar solo was a pleasent surprise. I was both repelled and fascinated by Brian's costume -- he looked like some bizarre offspring of Tom Baker's Dr Who and Catlady from The Simpsons. The walk, accompanied by the fireworks, was, admittedly, rather cool. Roger looked like he'd just woken from a snooze on a hammock in Bali and had found himself in the middle of Liberace's funeral. So .. the solo was good, WWRY awful beyond belief (but I notice Brian actually played the solo correctly, for a change), and the whole thing was ... different. Still think a team-up with Eric Idle would be 100 times better than Queen+Lambert

LOL@ Roger just woke up from a snooze, found himself in the mid of Liberace's funeral.
Thanks Holly :-)

This is purely my view.
When freddie came on the screens warming up the crowd i was anticipating something well how else to say brilliant, only to be let down with Jessie J coming out and ruining a classic.
Why couldn't do like the current michael jackson tour and use holograms....[/QUOTE]
I thought it was brilliant, one of the best ever versions of the song by anyone since Freddie, it was live it was raw and sang with real raunchiness in a very rocking style.
You cannot expect Freddie when it is not Freddie.
Roll on the biopic if you want something akin to him live.
And Brian's frock coat was amazing, and Roger's alertness and timing perfect as always. as was Brian's intuitive touch on his red special , bringing forth Golden Cosmic Rays bleeding light with vibrational ecstasies raining down like liquid fire, from the distant Galaxy Of ROCK.
QUEEN RULE still.

I have no idea why Brian thought it was a good idea to play a Brighton Rock solo at all, and it was also a very poor Brighton Rock at that! To the man in the street it would have just been noise and a waste of time.
My hands covered my face as soon as I saw Jessie J making an appearance and I have to say the horror got no better as she chucked in these stupid screams to an otherwise acceptable performance.
My friend who is not a Queen fan at all had a valid point, why no Freddie on a screen singing WATC and the band playing along?

I don't think it would be appropriate for WATC to be played at the closing ceremony because it was a British closing ceremony but the USA was the champion in the medas tally.

i am a little bit disappointed about the annoying background-tape being that loud in the mix. roger's timpanis at the end of the performance on the other hand are too weak mixed. hm.
otherwise... well, i did enjoy the ROQ ("Rest of Queen")+ some cutie for bringing such an presence to a huuuge stage like this.

I feel sorry for WWRY - at every opportunity it is dragged out, usually for people who can't sing (it is the perfect 'I can't sing' song) and now we are seeing it be ripped apart by people who over sing. It's not a sturdy enough song to withstand all this nonsense. I can only assume it was played because it is the only Queen song Jessie Skeletor knew? As a sporting anthem WATC is way better, but we know R&B would only listen to some 6th form production company (who I assume were running that concert) rather than the instinct they have honed over 40 years. The images of the fuckwit audience doing the cla clap hands miming was heartbreaking. The only good thing was Jessie Skeletor looked a bit like FM. I haven't bothered commenting on any of this for a week as I genuinely don't count that as anything to do with Queen - much like BM doing GSTQ on the roof of buckingham palace. I'm just glad this ahppened after the recent reissues, as we know that version would end up as a bonus track on NOTW. Also - please don't refer to the guitar solo as Brighton Rock, that does the song a massive diservice. I would've rather heard Neil's bass solo at the closing ceremony, it was that sort of night.

Brian May's guitar solo was amazing, but I personally don't like Jessie J.

Lets just be thankful it wasn't Ed Sheeran singing with Queen. Or that Emile woman.

Just the sight of Freddie on the screen was electric, sent chills through me and tears in my eyes. Loved it. Brian's solo wonderful, it's always exciting to see them, too bad John didn't return for it, that would have been amazing.

I agree with you Queen4Ever. I thought Brighton Rock solo sounded amazing and it was a very brave thing to perform it. But I think it fitted with the dramaturgy of the spectacle - it simply showcased great British guitar playing to the masses. Jessie J was shit though, without offence to anyone. Her performace was one of the low points of the night and what on earth did she do on the same stage with Brian May? I think it sits right up there with the Five collaboration and Britney Spears Pepsi advert. With all these stars gathered for the night, they chose Jessie J. Unbelievable:) I can understand they couldn't invite Adam, because he is American, but considering the fact the US scored most medals it could have been a welcome gesture. Overall, interesting performance which otherwise could have been great.
