Freddie was hardly perfect vocally live every single performance. There's no fan that can say he hit every single note perfect every single show, I wouldn't, that's just being honest. He was human. Yes he was an amazing vocalist, of course. Flawless, no. But it IS easy to say 'well everyone sucks compared to the dead guy'. And 20+ years is a long time to erase imperfect notes from the memory banks. As much as I disliked Paul's versions of the songs and his voice, it took some pretty big balls to try after all the years of Brian and Roger not touring. Who wants to follow Freddie? At least Paul had his own songs to sing as well (not that I would want any of Adam's in a setlist.) Adam being relatively new to the business, how he didn't puke seeing 250,000 fans in Kiev I have no idea. That's an amazing about of faith and support from Brian and Roger and an enormous amount of pressure. I'm guessing if THEY didn't think he did an ok job, that will be that and there will be no more shows with Adam. Lord knows I'm no Adam fan, but I will give him some credit where due.

I'd love a Storytellers tour with Brian and Roger, that would be amazing. I'd go see them with Adam too, who I do think is a pretty decent vocalist, but they needed way more rehearsal before that Kiev gig. I can't imagine having a bad time, with Brian and Roger looking so damn happy doing what they love, it's infectious. I really enjoyed Roger and Adam doing Under Pressure together, fun stuff. And having fun is what matters, they are not young men. They aren't going to do this much longer,so go have fun! Can't think of a concert I've ever been to in my entire life where someone had immaculate vocals an entire show, so I don't lay such lofty expectations from a Queen show.

The constant smoking would not of helped his voice as well.

Please no more Queen + AL/Queen + PR shows. Bring back Tim Staffell![/QUOTE]

Staffell sounds awesome on the Smile recordings, but his voice isn't exactly what it was in 1969.

Here we go again....bashing Paul Rodgers and now he is disrespectful and a douche?? If it wasn't for him..a lot of younger people would not have had a chance to see Brian and Roger..which was a good thing. To personally attack Paul Rodgers is not fair...you may not like his vocal style..let's not forget that Freddie himself admired Paul...I personally don't care for Freddie's 80's vocals but I am not calling him a douche. For that matter I don't care for AL....I am not calling him disrespectful or douche.

Paul Rodgers is an iconic vocalist in his own right for rock and bluesy vocals. There's no reason to bash him--he deserves respect for his art. Enough said on that.

For me as far as any future shows---Brian and Roger--NO guest vocalists--with a little help on drums and guitar....let's not forget that they are in their mid-60s and you can't expect either one of them to play like they did 30 and 40 years ago--so having say Rufus fill in for Roger or have the QE band help out here and there would be all right in my book..not that my book matters ;)

Sorry for the rant...the PR comments set me off
2013 ..a Great Year in Queen

I've seen some videos from Adam and Brian and Roger, and I just love it :)
Maybe it's also because that Adam Lambert is more from my own generation(I am born in January 1986 and he also in January but in 1982) and he gives a good show.
He looks quite active on the stage which I like too ;)

so what? you were born in 1986 - you'll be 27 this year and your generation is Adam Lambert? I'm confused. What has happened? Always thought he's attracting little girls who like funny outfits and silly haircut? Hope they won't do anything together. The collaboration with Paul Rodgers started in great tours and ended up in a new album. Let us pray this won't happen with Adam "the clown" Lambert...

i don't care if they tour with paul or adam.it is my only chance to see brian and roger and co live. and i am born in 1978

i found both voices from the new lead singers good. but they are very different and have very different styles.

but they can never match freddie mercury.

Completely agree with you. I went to the first Q+AL concert at Hammersmith in July and they were fantastic. Obviously Adam is nothing compared to Freddie but it was great to see Brian and Roger (and Spike!) play live. Seeing as I was born in 1994, I haven't had much of a chance to see them play over the recent years.

"The collaboration with Paul Rodgers started in great tours and ended up in a new album"

For what it's worth, I still reckon the Q+PR era was off to a good start. Paul Rodgers was giving it a bit of extra effort in the first few shows and the songs benefited from it.

It went downhill once it became a proper tour, though. It got lazy, cruisy and/or sleazy - take your pick, they all work when describing Paul Rodgers' contribution.

Still, I remember spending most of those 4/5 years having a faint optimism that the next thing they did would be better, and almost every time I was disappointed. Chucking hyperbole aside, the album wasn't the catastrophe that some people made it out to be, but that's not really what was wrong with it. If the best thing you can say about an album is 'it's not that bad', then I reckon it's not really coming up to Queen standards, is it?

Which isn't to say that there weren't positives in the Q+PR stuff. Like I said, their early shows had some great moments. It was good to hear Brian and Roger do stuff. I still reckon Brian's "I Want It All" was better than Paul's. And I think all of the horribleness of seeing that swaggering old manwhore Rodgers sweat his way all over the autocue was worth it just to hear Brian playing Bijou again - definitely the nicest surprise in any setlist I can think of.

On balance I don't even really like Q+PR, but I still reckon it was a better time than Q+AL, if for no other reason than Paul Rodgers wasn't constantly going offkey. His real problem was lyrics. God. Can you imagine them together?

I can't figure out why Paul Rodgers kept telling us about his love for someone called Huw.

Radio GaGa
Radio GaGa
Someone Still Lurves Huw

Bizarre.

It annoyed me more when he'd say "HAIR'S TO THE FUTURE" during I Want It All.

Rodgers' constant attempt at singing like Whitney or Beyonce at the end of every line whilst mispronouncing it really grates on me. One of the worst has to be on 'Say It's Not Truuueeewwwe-ah'
