Indeed. Phil Keaggy is definitely one of the best guitarists in the world.

That Phil Keaggy vid's great, certainly one of the most inventive guitar things I've ever seen. Never heard of him before, but glad I have now.

Just for the record, here's a couple more songs where Bri uses slide:

Was It All Worth It
Made In Heaven

imho the solos in "Headlong" are mind-blowing. Brian spoke occasionally about his concept of the solo being a song within a song, and for that, the solo at the end of WWRY is genius. But as for shredding, maybe "Stone Cold Crazy" should be considered also -- look what Metallica did with a fairly decent cover.

I like the short solo before "When a red hot man meets a white hot lady" that little bluesy type of solo, Great sound from bri

"I don't see the point in speeding up the tape to achieve something that you can easily do with a sixpence"

There'd be a slight difference in the timbre of the sound, although probably not all that appreciable if you weren't paying attention to it.

Everybody here is talking about Scandal or The Invisible Man in terms of technique.

Have you people never heard the guitar solo in Who Needs You? He does some crazy fast spanish licks, some nice chromatic runs, and he sweeps multiple times...

By the way does somebody as the video version of the Invisible Man with Queen alone? Not the one in B/W but the one that was presented at a convention?
"He knew exactly what was going on. He knew that was his last performance, he could barely stand." Roger Taylor commenting on Freddie's last video appearance.

Makes me wonder, is that solo in i want to break free guitar with weird effects? Or synth?

The solo in The Miracle is the highlight of the song imho.

It's a synth played by Fred Mandel

Nah, Brian used the slide on a few other songs:

Drowse
I Go Crazy
Radio Ga Ga

There may be more than that, but that's all I can think of right now.
[/QUOTE]

Keep Passing the Open Windows
The siren-type delays on Now I'm Here (octaved up too)
I'm Going Slightly Mad
Las Palabras de Amor

are a few more.

I wasn't sure whether to put Now I'm Here or not, as I thought those sounds might have been achieved by speeding up the tape, as Brian was using a fair amount of tape-manipulation around that time.

Completely forgot about IGSM. Good shout.

And good calls on KPTOW and LPDA too. You know, I'd never really consciously thought about the slide on those two, but I'd always heard it, if you know what I mean.

There are bits of Mother Love that sound like slide, but I guess that's just the strange sound of the Parker Fly.

Any more for any more?

Doesn't he use a slide in the Made In Heaven guitar solo?

(I'm not a guitarist, so I'm not sure, but it sounds slide-ish to me.)

Yep, but I'd already mentioned that, about half way up this page. :)

Mother Love features 2 guitars? Red special and that Parker Fly mentioned?

Great topico and great replies! I'm not a guitar player but I know what I like! And I like Bri's pieces!

Yep. It's well documented that he used a Parker Fly on Mother Love. And, of course, the Red Special is on there too.
