I thought this would be a pretty easy choice, but it ended up stumping me for a bit.

I ended up going with The Miracle. I just love the way the album opens up; I think that Party, as well as Rain Must Fall, are vastly underrated on here. Party is just a really friggin' good time with an excellent guitar solo from Mr. May, and Rain Must Fall is also pretty fun with good lyrics and another very solid solo. Throw in stuff like I Want it All, Breakthru, Scandal and Was it All Worth It and you've got a really solid album, which edges Magic and Works in overall song quality, has a better sound (and less infamy) than Hot Space, and is about equal to The Game, but in the end I would generally prefer listening to Miracle over The Game. There's my take.

That pretty much echoes my sentiments.

The Miracle is my favourite of the bunch, and The Game is a very close second. Overplay of the big hits sometimes can sour one's taste for an entire record.

Yes fans have even stopped for The Yes Album in similar polls, even though it includes much of their best material.

Guess you can't troll in January..:-(

Picked the miracle cause of the diversity. The two rockers and the factv that much of it doesn't seem to be chasing contemporaries (exceptions being Breakthru/boys of summer, invisible man/ghostbusters) the miracle itself is a complex track. .. AKOM is uneven (WWTLF being one of their greatest songs thanks to kamen)
...HOT SPACE is refreshing to listen to but has less complexity
... THE GAME is so solid it clocks in with brevity a nd vigor.

Never really liked THE WORKS so much outside of gaga, I go crazy. Keep passing the open windows. Machines is great but dated. Despite having Hard life I'd even take FLASH GORDON over it for a fun listen.

Odd case of an ORIGINAL soundtrack being possibly better than its film

I love them all, but all of them except The Game (and Hot Space maybe) have tracks that I'd skip.

Yep, The Game for me with The Miracle in a reasonably close second. The others are all good by don't come up for me in quite the same way. I think the band were incredibly tight by the time of The Game. Sail Away Sweet Sister and Save Me were gorgeous songs, yet they could go off and do stuff like Another One Bites The Dust and Don't Try Suicide, which seemed so incredibly simple, yet were still so good. Prime Jive is also really cool and Dragon Attack is amazing with its incredible bass line and blistering guitar solo.

Miracle has some absolute cracker rock tracks. Favourites are Pary and Khashoggi's Ship and the way they link up. I Want It All keeps the heavy stuff going and even Miracle has sort of a heavy base to it despite the lovely melody and what appear to be harps being plucked. Great stuff! Can't say I go on what was side 2 in the same way, but I still enjoy it. That's one very good reason why I think The Game is better, ie because its more consistent.

Unlike choosing 70's favourites it's actually quite easy for me to put these in order.

1. The Miracle ( Very strong album IMO with only My Baby Does Me letting it down )
2. The Works ( Again I think it's very strong, just a little too conservative and too short )
3. The Game ( Never been it's biggest fan )
4. Hot Space ( Just saved by some awesome vocals by Freddie and some great guitar from Brian )
5. AKOM ( ????? Just don't get it. On paper potentially the strongest of the 5 but it just doesn't work )

The Game for me. I was 15 when it came out that Summer and it was EVERYWHERE on FM radio here in the States! Just putting it on brings me back to that time and my youth!

The Game for me. It's also the best production and I love all the songs on it. I might actually be in the minority who likes 'Don't Try Suicide'.

For me, I always saw 'DTS' as a song about the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other, each telling the person conflicting things, hence the 'do it, don't do it' lines. As a kid it made sense to me that way and it still does.

Interesting what you say about Don't Try Suicide. Early on I hated it with a passion too. But then it hit me like a ton of bricks and it has stuck with me ever since. Its wicked! "Don't put your neck on then line, Don't drown on me babe etc." And as they say, if you like it, play it. F**k what anyone else things....lol.
