Tough choice.

The Game contains some of the last vestiges of the classic Queen 70s sound in tracks like Save Me, Hot Space is a unique and brave album, Flash Gordon I won't count as it has a fair bit of incidental music on it, then The Works has a few stone cold Pop classics like Radio Ga Ga and I want to Break Free but much of it is forgettable and dated, AKOM is half pop genius and half horrifying mess, but I think The Miracle is the most consistently listenable album.

I vote The Miracle.

I'm very glad Innuendo came out as I personally wouldn't have seen it as a great finisher to their career. Now The Show Must Go On? That was something else!
I don't know if I prefer TSMGO or the end of MiH as the closer to Queen's career. Both work really well as grand finales in their own way. However, I like Worth It as well and think that would have made a pretty suitable closer as well. The Miracle, Innuendo and MiH all had pretty badass closers.

Auto tune wasn't around then. There are other ways of correcting pitches beside that.

IWtBF is forgettable and dated. Just saying.

Hang On In There has the feeling of a demo of a song rather than a complete song. The lyrics sound like Fred throwing out any old lyrics in hope of inspiration and somehow they ended up in the final completed version. The song doesn't really go anywhere, which is a shame as parts of it are interesting.

Whoops! Its actually Hang On In There that has that line it it. But Was It All Worth it hasn't been a huge favourite either, but much better than Hang On In There. The fast string-like" synths aren't very convincing to me and are a bit pretentious the way I see it. I'm very glad Innuendo came out as I personally wouldn't have seen it as a great finisher to their career. Now The Show Must Go On? That was something else!
I see where you're coming from. My confusion arose from the fact that I admittedly haven't even heard Hang On In There Before. I'm only a Queen fan of 4 years or something, and I only have the Single disc Universal CD's, in addition to the fact that The Miracle's never struck me as a great album, or at least one that appeals to me personally. I'll listen to it now though :P

I see Tom. I bought my original version back in the day and it actually included the bonus tracks Hang On In THere and Chinese Torture. Don't mind the Brian guitar track, but Hang On In There is in my view pretty much as Holly says; not much more than a demo. Very unusual for them to drop the ball at all, but I don't much like the tune or the vocal.

They did a heap of extra tracks for Miracle and its singles, the rest of which I like, so maybe they DID spread themselves a bit thin.

Dated perhaps, but considering it is a globally known and remembered song nearly 30 years after it was released, I can't see how anybody could call it forgettable.

Hi waunakonor
I definitely agree with you about the Made in Heaven closer too ie "Its a Beautiful Day". Although I didn't go for the quiet bit of it all that much before, as it was originally so soft! However the volume seems to have been reset and increased on the recent box set version of the album and its much more listenable now.

And the "main" part of the song is pretty great. A great start to the album and a great way to finish it as well. Fortunately I had never heard the original b-side, so I just loved it when I heard it on MIH, as well as the request of the album of course. I mean I'm called "Heavenite" for a reason.....lol. Too bad for the people who already knew all the b-sides and stuff though!

That's interesting; I never thought of it like that. Some people complain that the 2011 remasters are too loud, and although that might be true at times, it's quite helpful for things that are were a bit too soft. Although when I get to the bit in the middle where it sounds like something is dropping on the ground suddenly, I jump a little.

I find it pretty forgettable, especially compared to the vast majority of Queen's other work. There's just not anything going on besides an excellent vocal performance. That's just my opinion. I guess I'll say that, for me, the song it forgettable and dated.

Yes, good point! And I'm guessing here, but I reckon that the soft bit in "Its a Beautiful Day" has actually been adjusted to be louder when compared to the rest of the song. I'm pretty sure about that, but a techo on here might be able to prove me wrong on that.

And yes the loud bit when that thing sounds like its dropping on the ground is really loud now! Nothing wrong with that I guess. I mean not everything has to be soft and smooth. I reckon its the contrast that get's you. because the rest of the track is mostly placid and peaceful.

HOT SPACE. Not one song on the album dares attempt to bore me.
