I would have traded most of those Magic tour gigs for some in 1974/5!

My first was in 1975 at Wolverhampton civic hall it was my first concert at the tender age of 15 and what an introduction that was! My friend and I were sitting up in the balcony looking straight down on Freddie's piano & champagne glass and he attempted to throw red roses up to us but they kept landing on the lighting rig - my friend stopped me from climbing up to grab one. There was a roadie fast asleep on the steps next to us and I didn't understand how he could be sleeping through such an amazing event! The tour was the same you can see for the Hammersmith Christmas concert and though I saw Queen every tour from then on I think that concert is the one that I cherish the memories of the most it was all so new and exciting and raw - miss ya Freddie! xxx

That's a great memory! I loved the opening on that tour: what an impact it had on me! I was 14 and it was my first gig... I never looked back after that :-D

Thanks Holly - oh gawd - too many! But I suppose I have to say Kampuchea, with both Wembley '78 a very close second with the first night at Hammersmith '75. The latter because it was the week that Bo Rhap made No.1 and so it was pretty celebratory...

Dayton, Ohio 1978 and Cincinnati, Ohio 1979.
They only played Dayton in 75 and 77, and Cincinnati is either 78 or 80.
Do you remember much about the shows?
Obviously not the dates. There was a big crush outside the Dayton Arena. There were chairs set on the floor and the people on the floor got rid of them, just folded them up and passed them down the line. I've watched Houston a lot and it was pretty much the same show. I think I was shocked at how much of a rocker Freddie actually was.
The Cincinnati (my hometown) show was Jazz. I was on the floor, so close I could see the whites in their eyes. I got real excited that they played If You Can't Beat Them. I don't remember if they actually played Fat Bottomed Girls but they definitely did It's Lake because I went nuts. I remember thinking it was really weird that Freddie made lots of eye contact and Brian always looked straight into the back of the arena. I also think John stood in the drum riser the whole show and never moved onto the stage. It was a long time ago, but I have always been glad I saw them. I hang with a lot of younger musicians and have a 4 Faces Queen 2 tee shirt i wear to local shows. I always get lots of compliments.

Ha !
Why did you find the eye contact weird? Because bands just generally didn't acknowledge the audience much in those days?

My dad was at both Sao Paulo shows (1981) and both Rock in Rio shows (1985).

My first ever concert was on July 24, 1982 at the Philadelphia Spectrum.
Then I saw the Q+PR shows in the Meadowlands on Oct. 16, 2005
Washington DC on March 9, 2006
Philadelphia Spectrum, March 14, 2006
Quicken Arena, Cleveland March 21, 2006 (I took my then 14 year old nephew to his first ever concert, his b-day way the next day. Now 7 years later, he is 21 TODAY!)

Which was your favourite out of that list? And which was the best crazy tour one?

That's difficult. Either Earl's Court (because I was in the front row thanks to the fan club) or the first night in Paris (because the Pizza Oven was just incredible and there was about 20-30 of us together - the Royal Family).
On the Crazy Tour Liverpool was best because one night I was in the fromt row and the next in the 4th row. Also, it was a big meet up for the Royal Family (a lot of us from L'pool and N Wales).
And met the band for long chats at the hotel. Happy days.

My very first concert was when I was about 14 y.o. and saw Queen with Billy Squire at the Boston Garden. I think it was just after A Night at the Opera was released.
Dan in NH US
Billy Squier never had a record out til 1980. that's five years AFTER ANATO was released!!!!
