Bought it, but please, don't ask more details, if you want more demos
Exactly - when people want to know details of the music you acquired with dirty hands (to be polite), blackmail them with "no more shares" ... even if you don't have anything else, which you very likely don't.

You don't really want someone to tell the real story, do you?

And your fake ESL is transparent.

Let the mudslinging begin!
Don`t download, Don`t listen, don`t waste your time for posts.

Why is the audio slightly brickwalled? Pains me to look at the waveform in a DAW

I would love to hear this, although I do wonder about the origin.

Can anyone advise how to download from Sendspace and other places without getting this ilivid thing, which is basically a virus?

Thanks very much

people want to know more?
Ok, Here's The full detailed informations.
I own a Trident acetate Of The Queen debut LP, which contains this version.
I did an acquisition in winter 2011 and shared The track with very few people to let listen that and compare with other known versions. I had The promise this would not have leaked to avoid any legal problem, but someone did not respect it. You can blame me for this but please consider I have The right to act as I want. The audio file uploaded here and some weeks ago on youtube is exactly The same one I created. Same acetate click, etc and same spectrum. So if someone want to receive glory for The sharing I cannot do nothing, unless have clear that it's a childish and poor behaviour.
I'm ready to give all other informations about this leaking privately in case there will be some problems related to my original sharing.

Of course.

The person who spent the big bucks on the acetate is always wrong, and the person who did nothing except hide behind a moniker to play Robinhood and upload a file is a saint who can do no wrong.

Give people a bit more credit. They're not as stupid as you think.

But now that the cat's out of the bag...

A piece of previously unknown Queen history is here:

All the other tracks on the acetate are identical to the debut album, which means the band weren't happy with Keep Yourself Alive as it was. It is clearly the last track they finished for the album. The acetate can therefore be reasonably dated as early 1972, and the studio version of KYA can possibly be dated as late as June 1972.

So the stories of there being 4 or 5 studio versions of the song are indeed true.

The fact that not a single person was interested in discussing the evolution of Keep Yourself Alive and the debut album means this place is all but dead.

People just come to grab music and leave, almost like it's a dogmatic interest in the "feeling" of getting new things without actually caring about what it is. That makes this more like stamp collecting than a keen interest in understanding where the music came from.

In fact, when the latest Queen remasters came out in 2011, some people actually complained that the studio outtakes of songs like Football Fight and Sail Away Sweet Sister weren't good enough for them, despite having yearned and begged for such things for years.

If an early version of Dazed And Confused were to emerge with even just a different vocal track, the Zeppelin forums would have had ten pages of discussion dissecting every single note of it by now. This is a completely different version of Keep Yourself Alive capturing it half way between the De Lane Lea demo and the album version, and not a word about it. This is akin to the scientific community discovering a fossil of homo erectus from a period previously unexplored. Those folks would be declaring a national holiday.

Maybe it's just what the culture of Queen fans has evolved to become, or perhaps anyone who would have had something to say doesn't post here for the reasons I've mentioned above. Either way, it's a sad state of affairs.

If anyone from QP is watching, what impetus is there to release a boxed set if a gem like this leaks out and there is so little reaction? If the hardcore niche of fans doesn't care, why would the man on the street? He's happy with the Greatest Hits album and the We Will Rock You musical. Brian May knows this better than anyone, and that's why the re-releases and the musical are a great success.

It's been a good decade overall, and methinks it's time to hang up the gloves.

Agree 100% with your post, Bob.

I so much would love this forum to be a place of music discussion, most specially when pieces like this KYA version or anything of similar interest show up all of a sudden, whatever the origin is

I guess that very few of us here have a real interest on discussing and dissecting such a gem, compare it with other versions, etc etc .... and perhaps many of that reduced group with real interest may have a musical background, I don´t know.

I´ve recently put some distance between QZ and I just because the lack of topics going in the direction you suggest. And sadly I don´t think this situation will be changing soon.

As you´ve already mentioned, the lack of enthusiasm and subsequent discussion I´ve noticed when alternative versions of The Kiss, Football Fight or Dreamer´s Ball have been released is alarming, at least for a freak like me, who enjoys so much of any variation of any song I love.

That´s the most fascinating aspect of the creative process, to me. But unfortunately this part may not appeal many QZers.

One collects Queen records , the other Queen pins and badges.

One buys official releases , the other downloads pirates for free.

One is a die hard collector , the other is satisfied with the cd catalogue.

One finds it very interesting to know the origin of this version , the other only wants
to listnen to it and is happy to hear something new. And doesn't care if it was recorded it in 72,73 or in 75.

Are you the one or the other ?

We cannot blame people for being different.

Or expect a question and discussion beause one thinks it should happen.
