that said, this is a interesting take. And I agree time goes on, people like new bands each and everyday. The Queenfan base is getting thinner by the minute.

And this version is nothing compared to the vast archive. But be aware whatever I would like to be released , how much I would love
Demo's snd new takes... Queen is BM and RT and those are living in the present and not in the past!

For them Queen is the Musical, projects with young artists, new projects etc.etc.

They don't carr if you see a dvd of Paris 79 on your tv. Why would they care : the project will cost probably more than it will gain. And if they are interested in a project like e.g. Rainbow , the project gets posponed as soon as a new project comes by : like recording a album with AL , playing with GaGa etc.etc.

The fact that not a single person was interested in discussing the evolution of Keep Yourself Alive and the debut album means this place is all but dead.

People just come to grab music and leave, almost like it's a dogmatic interest in the "feeling" of getting new things without actually caring about what it is. That makes this more like stamp collecting than a keen interest in understanding where the music came from.

In fact, when the latest Queen remasters came out in 2011, some people actually complained that the studio outtakes of songs like Football Fight and Sail Away Sweet Sister weren't good enough for them, despite having yearned and begged for such things for years.

If an early version of Dazed And Confused were to emerge with even just a different vocal track, the Zeppelin forums would have had ten pages of discussion dissecting every single note of it by now. This is a completely different version of Keep Yourself Alive capturing it half way between the De Lane Lea demo and the album version, and not a word about it. This is akin to the scientific community discovering a fossil of homo erectus from a period previously unexplored. Those folks would be declaring a national holiday.

Maybe it's just what the culture of Queen fans has evolved to become, or perhaps anyone who would have had something to say doesn't post here for the reasons I've mentioned above. Either way, it's a sad state of affairs.

If anyone from QP is watching, what impetus is there to release a boxed set if a gem like this leaks out and there is so little reaction? If the hardcore niche of fans doesn't care, why would the man on the street? He's happy with the Greatest Hits album and the We Will Rock You musical. Brian May knows this better than anyone, and that's why the re-releases and the musical are a great success.

It's been a good decade overall, and methinks it's time to hang up the gloves.[/QUOTE]

Please do not be discouraged. Not all of us are gifted musicians who can discern the subtleties. I enjoy reading the reviews and opinions of those who do and bother to write it for people to know.

Thanks a lot for this one!

I for one am someone who really is interested in any tidbit of news about how KYA (and anything else evolved)! I don't talk much, but I take everything in. I won't comment on the thief/robin hood stuff other than to say people should always keep their word in their dealings. No one wins with a splintered fanbase. On the other hand I'm not going to lie and say I'm not extremely excited when things leak.

I loved hearing this KYA and have been listening on repeat trying to catch all the nuances especially at the end....

Thank you for sharing this jewel.

for serious discussions it's more interesting what John Deacon is doing actually or why Queen didn't spent more money for the animation of the A Kind Of Magic clip.
You have to understand...

As I've said previously, Queen Productions may well have missed the boat on a box set of rarities. After a decade or so of re-releases, many fans have drifted off and others are jaded. After all, there's only so much bullshit one can take about "flooding the market" before becoming disillusioned. The "there's no demand" argument is becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I think it's a cool version, personally. I like the acoustic guitars and differences like the drums coming in (seemingly) slightly earlier. It is a nice transition version between the De Lane Lea demo and the final product. Love hearing stuff like this. More vocal ad libs during the drum solo part too.

As per queenpedia.com Trident acetate Of The Queen debut LP also contains other songs like Hangman, Rock´n´roll, Jesus. It would be very kind of you Mr. FMH if you also share other stuff. To all queen fans will dreams come true except ferdy.

As per one of the posts written above by someone who has heard the entire acetate, that is completely untrue.

And what do you mean by "except Ferdy" ?

Are trolling the person who PAID FOR the song that your ungrateful ears just got to hear for free?

What an absolute disgrace this place is, when trolls can slag off contributing members like this with impunity.

And since very few people actually speak up against this kind of thing - the rest of you deserve exactly what you get.

Very sad to see what this once great place has become.

I can accept the fact that the buyer of the acetate is a tad upset this track has leaked. But lets not forget the fact this transfer was intentionally clipped anyway, in hindsight a rather good move perhaps.

It actually wasn't intentional.

Come to think of it, if robinhoods want to take credit for "their" overblown transfers, then great - we'll go with that.

A clean transfer thankfully didn't change hands.
