Don't Stop Me Now from Live Killers - Possibly Lyon 1979?

I brought this up with The Real Wizard while I was in Hamilton earlier this year, but I think that the Live Killers rendition of DSMN comes from Lyon 1979 (albeit with studio overdubs).

The track is running half a semitone too fast (like Dreamer's Ball and Keep Yourself Alive -- those tracks have been noted as possibly being from that show as well), and the sound mix on the DSMN matches those two tracks (I compared the snare drum sounds, the guitar balance, and the lead vocal tone and mix).

There are numerous times where Freddie's lead vocal is overdubbed in the studio (the intro to the song, parts of the verses and chorus, etc), and the "raw" vocal sounds identical to his vocals on the Keep Yourself Alive and Dreamer's Ball tracks.

It's still unconfirmed, but I'm just doing some guesswork here!

Nice job guys. I, too, onced noticed that this track runs a bit too fast. So, it could very well be from that very show. Just wish we had a list with proper info on this album.

They should've recorded Live Killers during the Crazy Tour (as Brian May said at Newcastle). Case closed!

I just wish we had more recordings from the Live Killers tour to figure out some songs!

Indeed. I've been waiting for something new from 1979 to surface for a few years now - but no new recordings have shown up yet. Let's hope something will surface soon.

Does anyone know which songs on Live Killers run too fast because I would love to bring it back to its correct speed ?

The ending of Brighton Rock runs a full semitone too fast IIRC.

That might just be the coke that the other three had during the 10 minute solo.

I love Live Killers so much, but the constant deconstruction of it really ruins it.

Bring on the box!

I thought the name "Live Killers" was silly. I wonder if it contained a cultural reference, or something.

Best Queen album cover? Discuss.

Ok thanks, any more info anyone I am making a deluxe version of Live Killers and trying to make it sound as natural as possible :)

LOL! Maybe it was the coke!

In all seriousness, though, I’ve never heard any other version of Brighton Rock played that fast. Maybe the band decided to just play it too fast for the heck of it that night.

Well we got Wizard's Live Killers analysis. I just noticed it's been 5 years since this was update. I'm wondering now if any new stuff came out since then.

I always thought it was partly lifted from Frankfurt 1979; It has some faint similarities in the instrumentals in the first half. And then the breakdown and the rest is from another show. It's really hard for me to tell, because it is so much overdubbed...

I love the Live Killers album, I for one would love a complete unreleased unedited live show to be released from that tour.
