Brian May has turned himself into a cheap whore. That what he's doing - he's prostituting himself, and he's not above using the name "Queen" to raise the price. It's one of the saddest things I've ever seen. I don't want anything to do with that ass, and I can't imagine spending another cent on him.[/QUOTE]
Hate to say it, but when brenski brought up the class of singers/(*also mostly songwriters as well) of his era, it IS very dismissive, and does seem like ass kissing. You are right to scrutinize the man as SELLING PRODUCT.
I haven't bought much "queen" (that includes second hand collectibles) since the COSMOS ROCKS debacle.
Maybe it's slight mob mentality out perhaps it's heaRing something I've thought in private. ... but v yeah. This is a "re broadcast" of the same statement.
In his defense he doesn't do a comparison. Just believes he has a unique instrument (his voice)
I actually kinda enjoyed the Vegas show.
Of course it wasn't the phenomenon that a queen show was.
I get what you're saying
I feel your pain.
Shilling out for a new audience.... while the rest of his peers let the past do its own taking.
Still think it was better than the Hammersmith gigs... whatever that means

Indeed it is sad. AL doesn't deserve those words of praise above the legends. Brenski's list is right and pretty sure we
could all add to it.

Yes, the shrieking speak for itself. Is it too late for Marc Martel?

I think he said " Adam can do things which really I have never heard anyone else ever do in my life" . Well, look the way he reaches that extra high note in " on with show" after 3:30 here :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5a6kzuhnEvs
Now try and imagine Freddie pulling that out live. Most certain he would use a harmonic of the original note.
Of course that dosen't proove anything ( Adam being better than Mercury for sure )
But it does tell that he can do things with his voice that only so few male singers can do, especial in the reaching the extreme notes department.

yes but YOU say "one in a million", and Brian May says "one in a billion" - by my reckoning you are accepting that there's at least a thousand times more singers exactly like AL than Brian thought
- which doesn't exactly make him "fantastic" does it?

I love reading brENsKi's comments. Spot on, and very entertaining.

It was a typo.

yes, but your "nickname/ID" kinda gives the game away....your heart's not really into AL as much as you claim to be...
if it were, then why call yourself "someonewholikesadam"
if you really believed the hypetastic bollox coming out of the queen camp your nick would be "someonewholovesadam" or "adamlambertisthegreatestsingerever"
fact: your aspirational levels are extremely low if your idea of singing perfection is someone as mediocre as AL

All *opinions* of Adam's voice aside, this post is the most accurate one in the thread.
Brian is not wrong. Lambert has an incredible vocal range and can pull off things live that very few singers can manage, if any at all.
Whether or not people think it sounds good or is comparable to Mercury's originals is another matter.
Let's try to separate opinion from fact and not let emotion get in the way here. Brian didn't unequivocally say Lambert is better than Mercury, so everyone just calm down and put on Queen II instead of getting your knickers in a twist.

"Brian is not wrong"
Let me put it this way - for Brian to be right, he has to have been listening to a comically small slice of the gamut of singers on offer in the time that he's been in the biz.
Offering that Freddie (one guy) might not be able to hit a note in a live environment that AL can is still a bit meaningless. If Brian had listened to even a small percentage of his contemporaries, he'd be able to pull some names that could hit said note.
All I'm getting at is that the hyperbole doesn't help him. Not in the slightest.

and more importantly - hit (and hold) notes LIVE that AL can't.
...and there are many who can

I think what Brian was really thinking was:
"Why do I always have to do all the talking at these things?! Roger never says anything!! He just sits there, letting me go on and on."

Brian may "not be wrong" (based on pedantic stepford parsing), but his credibility leaves a lot be desired.

Adam is just easy. Fredde wasn't. Freddie really worked Queen to perfection. Adam just sings Queen's songs.
At age 64 and 66, this make Roger and Brian happy.
