"It speaks for itself, his voice’: Queen’s Brian May calls Adam Lambert one

Considering Adam Lambert's past ventures, I think he's done well for himself. Removing the Queen element here, he is a fine singer. And for sure, he's still learning his craft. Heck, he's certainly better than a lot of pop singers out there.

So, don't judge him harshly because of something Brian said for a promo interview. Just remember, it's not good P.R. to be anything but complimentary in these things. In other words, don't read into it, too much. It's part of their (Bri/Rog's) job.

Offering that Freddie (one guy) might not be able to hit a note in a live environment that AL can is still a bit meaningless.
There is something akward in this statement considering that this "one guy" is voted at most polls as the greatest male singer of contemporary music.
Live, Mercury's high notes wasn't his all around best quality but still this dosen't make him "one guy" by no means.

I think he said " Adam can do things which really I have never heard anyone else ever do in my life" . Well, look the way he reaches that extra high note in " on with show" after 3:30 here :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5a6kzuhnEvs

Now try and imagine Freddie pulling that out live. Most certain he would use a harmonic of the original note.
Of course that dosen't proove anything ( Adam being better than Mercury for sure )
But it does tell that he can do things with his voice that only so few male singers can do, especial in the reaching the extreme notes department.
All *opinions* of Adam's voice aside, this post is the most accurate one in the thread.

Brian is not wrong. Lambert has an incredible vocal range and can pull off things live that very few singers can manage, if any at all.

Whether or not people think it sounds good or is comparable to Mercury's originals is another matter.

Let's try to separate opinion from fact and not let emotion get in the way here. Brian didn't unequivocally say Lambert is better than Mercury, so everyone just calm down and put on Queen II instead of getting your knickers in a twist.
WOW I had not seen that clip before, I have to say that is by far the most dramatic and powerful version of that track I have seen by anyone. I think Brian's comments are pretty accurate, personally I cant think of anyone else being able to hit that note.
Who the feck cares if he's not Freddie... I just dont get those type of comments? wtf so what? the guy can sing like it or not, just because is name isnt Mercury doesnt mean he cant sing a Queen song well.
I would happily go see them play having seen that. IMO I am happy to see them play with whomever they feel like, all it does is add to the number of versions of queen material and I rather like seeing different singers interpretations, I still have Fred on the CD/DVD etc so no biggy

Okay somebodywholovesadam, you've caught a sucker and I'm going to bite. I listened to the clip you've posted. You know what? Adam Lambert has a fabulous voice and a dynamic range. Seriously. I heard him sing Tracks of my Tears and thought he sang beautifully, and was respectful to the song, he didn't over-sing it. But, it didn't draw an emotion from me other than respect that he can sing. I've listened to him sing Queen songs and the guy doesn't move me. I find him utterly unbelievable as an interpreter of this particular material. In my opinion, he has no "heft" or "gravitas" to his voice. That's my opinion, and I may be wrong. Neil Young has a shitty voice but I get more emotion out of a few lines from him than I do a concert of AL singing Queen songs. I'd bet that apart from the constant complaints about his over-singing of the Queen material, I think the people who don't get him as a soulful guy who can sell this material. This does not make us bad people :)

Since this topic is about the one in a billion voice, I feel completely justified in posting examples. You don't have to watch. But he is so damn entertaining. A little pre-fame Adam never hurt anyone. I always think of Richard Simmons when I watch this though.

It appears that he and Miley Cyrus should team up! Just think of it...an abundance of twerking. Richard Simmons only wishes he could have some of that....lol

Is he twerking in this video? I am twerk illiterate.

Miley was Freddie's favourite singer.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.
