I know this has nothing to do with complaints about the new roger taylor box set, but I was hoping to change the subject and discuss a rather overlooked Freddie song, if that's ok.

I remember when I first got a copy of The Game; I hated this particular song with a passion. I would skip it every time and wonder why they would include this on such a great album. Years later, I revisited this song and realized that this is yet another great moment from Freddie.

I believe that this song was a complete joke to Freddie in the same vain as We Are The Champions was. He took a serious topic/subject and made a joke about it. There are very subtle hints in this song that were meant to be funny.

Has anyone else thought about this too?
thank you.
sincerely,
mike.
bye bye.

Hi there, I always liked it as it was just so different; Fred on acoustic guitar (my guess) and rollicking piano, wonderful jazzy harmonies that reminded me of Westside Story, clean production, just a lot of fun really.

Cheers

The ability to come up with such diverse pieces like 'suicide' is the reason we all love Freddie.

I like this song. Nice melody and voice which tells you , "don't try suicide"! if there's best song against suicide so this song is one of the few against this evil!

you seem to imply this is the best of a "few"
you love to bask in your ignorance don't you?

there are many songs that take an anti-suicide stance, freddie's is a nice little tune - but nothing special...and certainly nowhere near as great as these:

REM - everybody hurts
Rush - pass
wilson-phillips - Hold On
peter gabriel & kate bush - don't give up
allman brothers - dreams
elton john - someone saved my life tonight
go deo na hÉireann The best QZ epoch: BG17-00 (Before Gerry 1996-2013)

No to mention Freddie's own Keep Passing The Open Windows. No need to start offending people though.

Why does every thread end up in being overtaken by the troll. Can't he be banned? Surely someone can get rid of him

No one cares for your opinion due to the fact you are a persistent, insufferable cunt.

I'm thoroughly disappointed in the responses I've read so far. I don't want to sound mean, but did anyone who replied actually read my question?

It's a joke. The song Don't try suicide is a joke. The same way we are the champions is a joke. Doesn't anyone else see the humor? It's funny!

Yes it's well written. Great composition, well structured, great singing, great overall playing, but your missing the point of my question.
