You have nothing to be sorry for, ignore these dicks. I think they're too caught up in the superficial concern that there's no harpsichord in Princes of the Universe and therefore can't grasp the point you were making.
The songs aren't all that similar, but you can easily tell they were written by the same bloke. Compositionally, Princes has enough different bits in it to be able to say it wasn't written by a complete clod.

I guess it was composed in guitar by freddie. It gives me the same vibe than Ogre battle in some ways. But some of the chords are not the ones you would choose in guitar.. so I guess it's kinda mixed.

Freddie wrote the lyrics. And the chord structure on piano / keyboard. Hence the chords not being natural to a guitar player.
I wish he'd written more like this in the 80's. I guess this song proves that had he wanted to he still could.

cdrom, Joe Elliot has a simmilar opinion . He loves that song in particular, from the Queen's 80's stuff, because remains him the Queen 70's structure, chorus and harmonies.

I have to apologize to each and everyone of you. I flew off the handle out of frustration because I didn't receive any serious or enthusiastic answers. I realize that this was my fault because I didn't really explain why I compared these two songs.
I made this comparison because Princes of the universe reminded me earlier Queen/ Freddie songs. The various parts, complex vocals, and different time signatures. These were the songwriting techniques he was using back in the early 70's. So i was wondering if anyone else felt this way about Princes.
Basically, I chose the wrong song to compare it to. Please forgive me.
You have nothing to apologise for, man. I saw your point immediately and like someone said above, you really shouldn't worry about some of the dicks that post here. It was clearly one of Freddie's most complex compositions of the 80s, which really stood out on the poppy AKOM. And what a progress compared to 1985's Mr Bad Guy.

^ Glad you decided not to leave, cdrom - it would have been easy to have been put off (although I really do think the banter was harmless and not intended to offend you), and not coming back would have fuelled the thought you posted that statement for a reaction. Now you've explained it, I can see where you're coming from in terms of composition. Sound-wise, obviously not, but POTU has always been a favourite of mine.

I always missed they didn't play in the Magic Tour...but Queen's concert in the 80's were very different to the 70's. There is also a something to think...

I love Princes of the Universe.
I still can't believe it wasn't a big hit, especially with that incredible video.
Go figure...
ok. i'll humour you....i find it easy to "figure" this one out.
the "lead singles" off the album scraped the top 50 & top 40 in the U.S. - POTU didn't make the U.S. top50 at all - not surprising as it was the third single - and it's the norm for subsequent single releases from an album to perform less-well sales wise.
POTU also release in Australia where it performed not quite as well as AKOM - it's album predecessor.
POTU wasn't released in any other major territories.
As for the video....well MTV was huge in the uS at that time - and everyone was releasing videos - so it was just one video among many

Also, Brensky, remember Queen were not the favorite band for MTV in the 80's...
I think they should published as the first single in US...
