Al murray is full of crap it wasnt the real john deacon :( just a cheap shot to get queen fans to listen to his show :( feckin wanker
Jeez!!! talk about over reaction.
he's a comedian and a rock music lover, a huge queen fan and also plays in bands himself. I've listened to his sunday show for sometime and it's amusing ireverant and funny.

and - most importantly, in the "teaser/promo" that ran all week for the show he didn't indicate that it was JD - in fact he hinted that it wasn't - saying something like "surely not"

you are taking this FAR FAR FAR too seriously

Actually is Al Murray genuinely a big Queen fan. It was morseo a band he picked as being suitable for the Pub Landlord's casually bigoted character as being overly popular, appealing to lowest common denominator with some narrow minded fans. I get the impression the band didnt see the joke and started appearing on his shows and vice versa and theres no way out of it for Al Murray now.

your comments are conjecture.
The Pub Landlord is a character, Al Murray is the person - on a sunday you hear him.
also, his band t-34 are quite good - and manage to play some decent rock covers.
but i suppose YOU know everything about him including why he picked queen as a favourite band? - your reasoning doesn't make sense - someone "appealing to the lowest common denominator" doesn't choose a band with a gay lead singer who died of AIDS.

how am i taking it to far? ive loved queen since 74 and listened to hundreds of dj talking about queens etc but they never conned you into thinking that they were gonna be on the show? but in the end who cares yous lot take things to seriously here on queenzone, as queen died in 1991 , and all thi shite that's going on the now and previously with five paul Rodgers and now feckin bender adam lambert who makes Freddie look like a feckin brick layer is a total embarrassment, point is he did say it was JD, and just because he is a feckin QUEEN fan doesn't make him good, christ Bronson loves queen is he a good guy? anyhoo hes English enough said. so lighten up dude.

Actually its not just conjecture . I read it in a few interviews, there is one link here. Queen is the character's favourite band. My logic? Have a word with yourself.

exactly. the character's favourite band.
He's NOT the character on the radio - try and separate the two

? Thats exactly my point - that there is often confusion between the character and person with Al Murray's act. Therefore does the person actually like Queen, or just the character. I havent listened to his show yet so if you have and believe he comes across as a genuine fan fair enough. But given Al Murray the person claims not to hold any of the views purported by the Pub Landlord then it seems logical to think liking Queen would also fall into that category.

I think both Brian and Roger have said that they appear on Mr Bad Guy. And wasn't it confirmed in the FM Solo box that the Love Kills backingtrack originated from The Works' sessions?
I didn't think Brian and Roger were on Mr Bad Guy...tho I know the guitar player on that plays some really Brian-like stuff at times....I do remember reading somewhere that they are both on Love Kills tho!..........really that's more of a Queen song than some stuff on Hot Space....lol

I recall an interview with him at the time of that saying he was effectively 'assigned' a band by the producers; he likes Zep so had no issue with that, but they weren't his direct choice.

Yes he likes Queen, but if you follow him on Twitter I'd say Genesis are pretty much his favourite band.
