If we're talking about playing then I think 'Staying Power' would kill him.....then again it would never be played anyway.

Actually in review I still stand by it. I KNOW they played both in the lap of the gods ' but to my knowledge it was never opened with the lush panache that it has on the album with Roger's opening wail.

Was it?

I'm confused now.

Also add It's Late. ... That breakdown would definitely be played mostly by his son

Stone Cold Crazy, Sheer Heart Attack, & Now I'm Here are my guesses.

What do you think?[/QUOTE]

So is that the reason for having not played Now I'm Here for, shall we say, decades...? :-)

You're right, but the two of you are thinking of different parts. There's also an inbetween wail during the repeats of the last chorus bits ("Lap of the gods, lap of the gods" etc) that Roger DID perform live. I couldn't believe my ears the first time I heard that.

Understood. You're probably right. I DO remember that part the "ahhhh ah ah ahhhh! S"

All the more reason for me to see them this time around.

I think I had a chance to see Q+PR but acted as a purist.

What arrogance. I DO love this band. Even if it will be with a musical theater like singer

I wish he'd do a drum solo at the end of the catwalk again, since I missed out on that. Doubt he will, though..

He cant even pull off his signature song "I`m In Love With My Car" anymore, he ditched all the fills.
I think that he would die on stage when they start to play "Now i`m here" again.

Staying Power would be horrible to watch and hear aswell, I Want It All is a good contestent aswell, he couldn`t keep up with the pace of the fast bit on the 2008 tour, so i`m not really sure how he would do it this year.

Roger hardly played drums reguralry since Magic Tour 1986. Of course he did the albums, but I think the actual playing he did during Miracle session (1988) was nothing much and same goes for Innuendo.

You could clearly see a bit of softening at his playin in Freddie Mercury tribute 1992. That was the first time I ever saw them playing live. And a I was blewn away when I later saw Queen at Wembley 1986, because I thought Roger played with so much power!

But after this 1992 one-off show.... I think he hasn't really been playing and that destroys your feel, technique and stamina.

Sadly by 2008 he was only a really poor excuse of him earlier self. :-( I just watched the 2012 Ukraine show and thought he was going to die at the end of the set....

I agree BradMay when he sings the part "when I'm holding your wheel" he used to sing with great power the last best version Japan 2005 or Sheffield 2005 dvd. In 2008 he didn't put much effort in it. He was out of breath.

Our Roger isn't getting any younger. He'll try to get back in shape of course, but when you're not playing drums frequently you obviously loose touch. I do hope they do not use a second drummer, that would be a disgrace.

I also hope he'll try to remember the lyrics in stead of Reading them from screen or papers.

Vocally wise, AKOM. I've very rarely heard him do a good job of that vocally.
Drumming wise, NIH.

Neil Peart (Rush) never stopped drumming and kept his condition en technique intact. Even now he is an excellent drummer because he kept working on it.
IMHO roger stopped being a full-time drummer when they finished Innuendo. He still has a lot of talent and experience, but he is no longer world class.

I think he would struggle with liar although that song from what I have read, hasn't been played in full since a leed's concert 81?

Actually Neil Peart did stop drumming for a few years after the deaths of his daughter and wife.....

But, he took lessons, adapted his techniques and is possibly better today due to the fact that he is more relaxed in his style?
