I alway's thought Rain Must Fall was John's only song he wrote about Freddie....Of course I could be wrong about that.. I like the song..Vocally and the guitar work is solid.

You and I. Somehow wistful and cheery at the same time.

i love spread your wings, cool cat, Aobtd and rain must fall equally.
RMF is clearly an attempt at an early 80's Stevie Wonder type cut.

Man........I was gonna say Spread Your Wings................but someone mentioned You And I..........good lord that is an awesome song!!!........nice poppy number with just a bit of rockiness to it...........I just love love love the bridge..........you know could foresee the future years...............there was a thread where someone asked what was Freddies best vocal or something..........that might be close to the top of mu list.............I just love it when hes got a little bit of growl to his voice...........

I like the line: "Oh, will we be together, forever?"

Spread Your Wings is probably my favourite. Regarding the excellent You and I, I believe Fred and/or Brian had a lot of influence on that song. It's hard to imagine John writing such a complicated song, with for example different time signatures and with such complicated harmonies. Up to that point he had only written Misfire and You're My Best Friend -- both fairly simple, although YMBF probably also had a lot of input from the band. John's compositions after You and I are also pretty simple -- Spread Your Wings (no harmony vocals at all), Who Needs You, If You Can't Beat Them, In Only Seven Days, Need Your Loving Tonight, AOBTD etc.

You and I.
Tough choice as I also love if you can beat them, who Needs you and spread your wings.
