As idiotic as starting a topic about which gay clubs Fred attended? Hmmm...

"arse Olympics" "shitty fist"?

You guys need to check out some straight porn and see what your straight comrades like to do with women. Plenty of arse Olympics there.

Idiots
So much this - lots of people in this thread showing off their ignorant and idiotic faces.
careful with your over-liberal use of the term homophobia. just because i make a sarcastic comment later on in the thread it doesn't mean my opinion has changed.

If you care to re-read the thread properly you'll see that i am ridiculing the OP for such a completely irrelevant thread. the point should be directed at the OP for starting such an obviously lurid thread then later claiming all manner of pretensions to appear intelligent:

perhaps it is just a spelunking expedition for you brENsKi. You are fully entitled to that.
On the deeper level, the Man and his music were affected by the environment he surrounded himeself with. My goal is to understand the world of the 1970s-80s and seek reflection in Queen art.
Brenski is clearly with the inquisition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tym0MObFpTI

The question I posted was: what places Freddie attended.

As far as I am concerned, he could have been at the Sunday mass each week. What's so dirty about that Brenksi, let's hear your twist.

Given that Freddie was a frequent 'flyer' with a flamboyant life style, I would love to know what bars/clubs he frequented in cities he visited or lived in?

I would like this topic to be purely ethnographic in nature, a deep dive into times past when hedonism ran free. Ideally it should be documented by press releases, personal encounters, or Freddie's innuendos such as Marknow's photographic and video example ----- http://www.queenzone.com/forums/1387989/freddie-sings-and-warns-others-about-aids-video-.aspx?anchor=1388038 ------ in kdj2hot post, whom I must credit for giving the idea, thanks to the link he shared in the Star article.

We are off and running with the Mineshaft in NYC... what else?
you refer to hedonism and Mineshaft - neither of those are even slightly inclined toward "Sunday mass" - so drop the mask and quit pretending. nowhere did you ask if he went to his parents for tea or even actually ever went to church....your question was focused purely in one direction sex and filth....so man up and admit it rather than hiding behind pretensions and flimsy counter-arguments

i asked what clubs he visited yes. I did not ask what drinks he ordered. You automatically misread thinking about spelunking and the joy it brings, naughty boy.

don't accuse me of misreading.
YOU were the one who referred to
hedonism and mineshaft...and the title of your thread refers to "Baths" - and everyone knows why the bathhouses existed .
stop bending your argument. just admit exactly what YOU meant and stop telling me what I am thinking....i haven't thought anything - i have read exactly what you typed.

and now you are hoist with your own petard

brENsKi, the reason the OP mentioned Mineshaft was because this thread was inspired by an article in the link in the original OP (did you read it?). It's about 'Mineshaft' in a historical context, and while it talks about what you might have seen if you had gone there at its height, it wasn't talking about 'sex and filth'. The words 'hedonism', 'baths' and 'mineshaft' do not automatically bring the phrase, 'arse-olympics' to my mind, and if they did, I would get myself some therapy for my obsessive homophobic tendencies. If you had read the OP properly and looked at the link, you would have seen that the OP intended it as a follow-on where more names of places Freddie visited might be mentioned, so that the OP could find similar articles about them.
If I wanted a fight, I would have phoned my mother-in-law.

There's the Pikes Hotel and Ku club (now Privilege), both in Ibiza.

The best anecdote I've heard in one of the Freddie documentaries (was it that awful "Freddie's Lovers" on Channel 5?) was about one certain club (could have been Heaven) with a special room in it - a room for which only select people had a key. Apparently none of the people who had access to this room are alive today (including Freddie).

It really makes my stomach turn thinking about what used to go on there. And I'm not homophobic at all. But I mean, really... why? What was the point of all that excessive, sadistic sex?

I'm definitely no homophobe and I thought arse-Olympics was pretty funny. I've heard homosexual friends say much worse, and I dare say that every gay guy I know would have laughed at "arse-Olympics". In fact, I know at least one who's going to start using the term when I tell him...

thanks Casper, nice to see some people round here don't jump on the oh-so-uncool let's call everyone a bigot "homophobic bandwagon" .
esp when the OP and several of the nay-sayers know exactly why i said it...but choose a totally irrelevant angle of attack.

btw - your gay friend can now use my (very recently) copyrighted "arse olympics" phrase for the modest sum of 10 euros - per week....lol

However there is a diference in things happening/beeing told inside the gay (or any) community/minority and outside. Use of the "N-word" among African Americans is a good example.

Qeenzoners on the other hand stand somewhere in-between according on what should be considered homophobic. Idolising Freddie (i think the majority here, does) gives us an advantage to a less politically correct vocabulary. Still it may challenge the sensibilities of some.

The way I see it, there is really very little difference between "arse Olympics" for homosexual intercourse and, say, "bedroom golf" or "playing hide the salami" for heterosexual intercourse. They are all satirical euphemisms for sexual intercourse, and I don't see any of them carrying objectively negative undertones. Discrimination is usually defined, not in the literal sense of distinguishing between categories, but as making unjustly disparaging distinctions. I don't see anything that could be considered disparaging to homosexuals in the phrase itself, so whether or not it is homophobic would depend on the context and the way in which it is used, not on the phrase itself.

The same really applies to the n-word, as you put it. If you call a black person "nigger", that is obviously disparaging and you will be frowned upon at the least. But if I am having a conversation about the American Civil War and I mention Southern resistance to their own "20-slave-law" which they called the "20-nigger-law", that is justified by context.
