William Orbit is just what "Queen" need. He isn't a yes man. His approach is different to what they've had in the past. This can only be good.

IMO, during the mid 80's the band were so big and successful that anyone who was sitting in the producers chair was probably having to agree or at least compromise with ideas that maybe were questionable.

Bingo. And this happened with plenty of others, too. Could you imagine being the producer while McCartney was in his lull in the 80s, having to smile and nod while he clunked out a yet another cheesy derivative ballad? Could you be that guy who said, "No Paul, it actually sucks" ? Or Bob Dylan ? If I want a cheque with my name on it, it's a great song Mr. Zimmerman. I love it.

Even the best songwriters have their creative peaks and troughs, and most of them try to find their way out of it with varying success.

Paul made some good ballads in the 80's. Just listen to the original version of "Beautiful Night" or "Loveliest Thing"

One step towards being a "great man" would be to publicly own up to the trolling, bigotry and fighting that he created, apologize sincerely for said behaviour, and refrain from that type of behaviour.
As far as many of us are currently concerned, he does not deserve a place on this board until he has admitted to his bad behaviour and learns to disown it.

If he can do that, and turn over a new leaf to PROVE himself over a period of time, I may consider dropping the campaigns to get him banned.

I think it takes a huge amount of realisation sometimes to be aware that what you're creating isn't what it should be.

At that level you're maybe in that bubble where you lose track of what you should be trying to achieve and also what your audience really wants to hear. Of course you can't be a slave to expectations but you also need to bend the other way too.

I think very view artists in the upper legue put material out that they don't have a certain amount of belief and faith in. I think very view would sit there had have the attitude of, that will do or I can't be bothered.

That is where a producer, with a tough attitude towards what been created is what is needed. Because a duff song or album doesn't just reflect on the artist but also the guy in the chair.

It's that balance between effort and the easy pay cheque!
jondickens1 wrote:When did Brian say there were only 3 tracks? One obvious track is Love Kills but the others (I heard on the interview on BBC Wales) were unheard tracks.
Indeed, I'd also like to know where he has said this. This would have spread like wildfire like every other little thing that's been officially said so far about this project.
It got mentioned by me and others, but we gave up trying to make QZ an information site about Queen, because like all discussions, it went down the toillet real fast because nobody respects anything in this forum. But yes, Brian mentioned the three songs.
Could you provide a link to a source? Not really asking for much here, please and thanks :)
Here it is:
from Brian´s soapboax:

Letter to Queen Fan club members. Last paragraph he mentions "at least three previously unheard tracks with Freddie singing"

http://www.brianmay.com/brian/brianssb/brianssbjan14.html#12

--------------------------------------
--------------------------------

And here are some interestic topics in QZ:

About the MJ tracks:

http://www.queenzone.com/forums/1365783/brian-may-talks-new-queen-recordings-freddie-mercury-biopic.aspx?page=1

-------------------
-------------------

So, in the end we have "at least" three Freddie new songs, and possibly up to four Freddie+MJ new songs on the next Queen record.
