I hate to say it, but although the rest of the clip sounds pretty damn good and promising, Freddie's vocals sound like they have been autotuned all the way, although the most obvious part is in the "Soldier, sailor" bit. I hope the low quality of the sample proves me wrong, but usually I can easily detect these, because I have used autotune in the studio for effect and tinkered with it elsewhere. Still, can't wait to hear the rest of it.

Drums are mono, the mix on Sheetkeeckers is better.

The songs that WERE on the Sheetkeeckers are different. They clearly selected the songs that went best during the night, overfubbed vocals and maybe some guitars(?) in the studio and these are the tracks we know. Like Seven Seas of Rhye, which has way too many voices to be only Roger-Freddie-Brian.
Fairy Feller is different. It was clearly not selected to be on the live album (that never actually metamorphosed), so there are no overdubs. But as mentioned some really violent vocal corrections with a little help of Pro Tools.
Still. It sound quite magnificient and with only three voices they did amazing job!
I just had hoped, thay would have get rid of all those ovedubs, also for the November Show. I hate to hear so many Freddies and Rogers singing on "Just a new man" during Now I'm Here. Thay were really great live and wouldnt have needed to do these overdubs.

Yes, the fact alone that they've decided to perform it and the way they did it proves (again) that Queen is a hell of a band. They stepped out from their safe-zone and gave rendition of a song which is incredibly complex in terms of vocals (those harmonies!), harmony and tempo. They did an incredible job. Is it possible that they've performed it more than once ?
Concerning the word "sound" -> I don't know who is responsible from restoring, audio engineering or remixing the original vocals but I hope that the change will be made even at the eleventh hour. This tiny bit really stand out and I'd recommend at least minimizing the effect they have used on Freddie's voice.
Of course there is always a possibility that that was the way Freddie sang it on the gig originally. If an audience tape of this show emerge, then we will know for sure.

That is just amazing. Goosebumps and tears this end. Stunning.

That particular bit of the song doesn't sound as doctored here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gM9IlmrC3t0
Maybe the original upload here was poorer quality?
Greg, could you refer to the track in the context of autotuning or overdubbing ?

Proof of what an amazing band they were in those days.
It's a shame that the spirit that drove them to attempt and pull this off, and other songs too, had long gone by the time The Magic Tour happened.
They were a different band back then.

I din't think that's a shame, I mean - we've got this! And we got hundreds of other concerts they performed where they really did put the music first like here. And we should be open minded and realise that Queen, by moving towards more radio friendly pop music, found a way into even more millions of people's hearts.

I don't think that's important at all. If some people's taste in music is so bland all they can handle is I Want to Break Free and My Baby Does Me then that's more to be pitied than celebrated. Popularity is not a measure of musical quality.

for me the whole song sounds autotuned. i know how good freddie is but i can clearly hear autotune artifacts on there. i hope they didn't do this to the entire gig. that would be a dealbreaker.
