Don't think so Bob. GT played some footage from the first night of Rainbow at Breakthru 2011, they have video from both nights.[/QUOTE]

But isn´t this release a compilation from both nights (video footage)?
I´m reading so much information that it´s confusing.

Has anyone noticed the difference in Freddie's vocals from the bootlegs to the new mix in Modern Times Rock 'N' Roll?
They sound very different.

I've mixed both the bootleg mix and the new mix to the video in an .mkv file - it sounds like AT LEAST the choruses were overdubbed on the lead vocals.

Thanks for that.

Of course it's hard to tell which one has been overdubbed, since we don't have an audience tape or a raw board recording to compare it to.

But using Montreal 81 as a template, I'd say the newer version isn't overdubbed. On the old We Will Rock You VHS/DVD there were lead vocals that were overdubbed, and on Queen Rock Montreal these spots suddenly matched the audience tape. They elected to stick with the original vocal much more.

Reminds also of Hungarian Rhapsody's Under Pressure.

I sort of wish they left in that high note overdub though :P

It's a pity they still don't understand there's a huge number of fans who want a recording of EXACTLY what happened on that night (no cuts, no overdubs etc).

...BOTH nights on Bluray/DVD including the ten minutes where the audience where entertained during the power cut....

I WOULD buy that. I'm serious.

Dire Straits' Alchemy has no overdubs. It's even in the liner notes!

Even a perfect live band like Muse has overdubs on their Rome release. Unfortunately.

When listening to the bootleg mix, I faintly hear a 2nd lead vocal from Freddie, lying underneath the main one. It might be something technical, or it could be the original vocal.

Just to make sure everyone knows this: Audio track 1 is the bootleg one, whilst track 2 is the new mix from the iTunes sample.

On second thoughts, it might simply be reverb that I'm hearing on the bootleg recording.
One thing that I am certain of is that the 1st chorus has an overdubbed Freddie, which they have now removed.

I like overdubs. I listen to the concerts mainly to enjoy the music, and if some fattened up harmonies or pitch corrected vocals in the ending of March's version of Seven Seas Of Rhye make the listening experience better, then that's fine with me. All I demand is that it's done with some moderation - it's when it gets too obvious it gets a bit disturbing.

I'm not talking about Seven Seas of Rhye though :)
