By the way, I think the worst song is Coming Soon.[/QUOTE]

To me their worst songs are:

Loser in the End.
Calling all Girls.

LITE just dont belong to Queen II, the lyrics are awful and the music is not on the same level as the other songs.

CAG, well, I dont have much to say, except that I hate it, lol
Queen: Roger Taylor, Mike Grose, Freddie Mercury, Brian May.

The live version of CAG absolutely rocks.

That always struck me as the one song on Hot Space that perfectly illustrated how it could've been a waaay better album if they hadn't opted for the 'fashionable' shitty production. The live version really does it justice!

BTW: try not to end posts with a link, but add a single character after the link. Otherwise, quotes get messed up.

I love the underrated stuff. Rain Must Fall-Really catchy, I just always liked listening to it there is something light and loveable about it, the rhythm and words and the way Freddie sings it.

Calling All Girls- Love the bass and guitar, it's just a song you want to dance to.

I always considered Rain Must Fall and My Baby Does Me uninspired fillers. Can't for the life of me understand why Hang On In There didn't make it onto the album instead.

Still, there's no album with as many pointless fillers as AKOM. Are there two good songs on there? Maybe three? Hell, it's worse than Hot Space, at least most of the songs on that album have some thought behind them and sounded good live.

Hot Space is the best record of the universe!

Coming Soon is still one of my all time favourite Queen songs. Loved it when I first got The Game back in the mid 80s.

Worst? Probably most of MIH, One Year Of Love and My Baby Does Me although I have recently re-evaluated The Miracle and absolutely love it.

I don't quite get the dislike for AKOM.

One Vision, A Kind Of Magic, Pain Is So Close To Pleasure, Friends Will Be Friends, Who Wants To Live Forever, Princes Of The Universe.

I think those are all great songs. So... ???

I guess I'm in the minority here.

Here's what I think.

One Vision is a good song, so is WWTLF. Princes Of The Universe is alright as well... The thing I don't like with the rest of the songs is that they sound so damn lazy. Programmed drums, a very plastic production (hear the backing track at 5:00 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-G8Qbtddow ) and almost no instrumental finesse whatsoever. The songwriting is either extremely commercial and mainstream (Friends Will Be Friends) or just plain mediocre. Yet it might still have worked for me, if it weren't for the coincidence that Freddie Mercury's vocals are (IMO) at their all time studio low; often sounding hoarse and strained.

Actually I thought I was in a minority about this!

I think one example sums up the reason for my incomplete enjoyment of AKOM, and that's the title track: it's a great song, indeed. But when the full original version was put on the Wembley DVD, that version sounded so much greater. One Vision is just awesome, but the rest of AKOM consists of mostly pretty great songs butchered in production. And there're a few not-quites. One Year Of Love, Pain Is So Close To Pleasure and Don't Lose Your Head aren't top notch, IMHO, They could've been decent songs, but now they're corny (OYOL/PISCTP) or downright awful (DLYH) thanks to the production.

I like Rain Must Fall - has anyone that has heard John's 'No Turning Back' track with The immortals noticed that the percussion loops on that track are very, very similar to 'Rain Must Fall'??

12" version of AKOM single was VERY nice - because there was more twiddly-dee :-) guitar. Despite it being a Roger song messed around with by "that rotter Freddie" :-) the whole point to me is the guitar.

I also like Rain Must Fall. Quite a bit actually.

Also a fan of My Baby Does Me.

Love to hear Freddie just generally screwing around and having a good time.

I think we agree the main culprits are One Year Of Love, Pain Is So Close To Pleasure and Don't Lose Your Head. That's a 3rd of the album. WWTLF drags and kills the star of side 2 although obviously it is a super torch song. The album flow is stodgy - and that cover! Oh Jeeeeez. Would've preferred A Dozen Red Roses on there as I loved that when I got the AKOM single,

The guitar in RMF is sublime and and great example of BHM making an okay song into a decent track.
