Wow! Just heard those 'new' songs.
Upon first hearing I'd have to say that they're quite disappointing... apart from LMIYHA which sounds like it could have been a super Queen track back in the da
Roger Taylor is... buried into the mixes somewhere. You certainly don't feel much of his presence on those old FM solo songs...
Which have been really butchered here.
There's none of the creativity of those MIH tracks. This all just seems redundant.
Apart from LMIYHA which is noteworthy, simply because it's great to hear something so rare from Fred. Just to hear him singing a new melody and words... ooh, it's bliss.
I don't necessarily like what B and R have done though.
Ah, maybe I do.
I don't know.
Off to listen with headphones.

The saving grace is that the talented fan mixers here might be able to fix them.

Throughly agree with you, op.
Although, imo, it would be cool if they wrote some new songs and sang them or did something similar to Q+PR. Maybe it's just me...

Ugh, "There Must Be More To Life" has always fucking sucked.
Really like the new Queen track though, the "Let Me In" one. I can't tell whether or not I'd have liked it or not if it was something we'd all been hearing for the past two decades or not, but it's such a nice thing to hear a song for the first time.

I was looking forward to a new mix of There Must be More To Life Than This. But the original (even though the backing is a little dated sounding) is still far superior to the new mix. Freddie's vocals sound as if they have some effect over them which sounds muddy, and the volume has been turned down. Yet Jackson's voice hasn't been tampered with in the same way. I've listened to it a few times hoping that my ears were lying to me, but no - it's fucking horrendous.

I agree the mix is weird... and Freddie's vocal is way too low!

Let Me In sounds like 'classic' Queen to me. Not much has been said about Deacy being on it and having a proper bass man playing just shows how weak the bass lines are on TCR album

The snip of More to Live they used in the documentry sounded awesome. This is a disappointment. To be honest I think it is the Jackson estate who fucked it up. They should have done a Freddie vocals only Queen version. Freddie sounds so quite in this version. And the echo when 'why is this world so full of hate' line starts: not really a fan of it. And where is the damned piano!?!?
Love kills; I expected vocals that would have matched this song more, but still a good song.
Let me in your heart: awesome, real Queen.
Though I still miss reworked or unreleased versions of (we all have confirmed knowledge that full versions of these songs exist, so there could still be other hidden gems):
Money cant buy happiness
Love makin love
Let me live (feat. Rod Stewart)
Silver Salmon
Hangman
Feelings feelings
Man made paradise
I guess we're falling out
Dog with a bone
Polar Bear
Self made man
We will rock you (fast) - studio version
And two other songs with Michael, but the Jacksons will probably screw those up too. The State of shock demo on Youtube sounds really good though.

To me, Let me in your heart again is a b side, not a great song, only ok.
Love Kills, Freddie vocals doesn't fix with the instruments.
The Jackson duet, ok.

Let me in: It doesnt sound too good to me, it sounds OK but I expected something more powerful.
There must be: No. Awful mix, I hope that mix is not the final one. Its a really horrible mix, I hate it almost as much as The Loser in the End or Dear Friends.
Love Kills: I like it, I like the original version, I like the Adam Lambert version too. The only thing I didnt like it is the "love-love" backing vocals.

I'm afraid there won't be any awesome releases from BReen anymore, for they are pretty good aged persons for now, and there's no magic in this world, they not that creative as they used to be.
I'd like to see just a release of untouched demos? not spoiled by reproduction.

apols for posting this in bOTH threads - but my view?
it's not a bad one as queen ballads go...but i've a feeling of "here we go Made In Heaven" all over...
why?
listen to it...play it side by side against Anita's version. they've used the original backing tracks...very little has changed. - the rest appears as it were in the 80s...it's the version Brian gave to Anita minus her vocals with freddie's "guide vocal" being spliced in and one or two little cosmetic changes here and there. but basically, it sounds like original guitar in exactly the same spots with same effects etc...and it even sounds like Brian's piano playing...was that on Anita's version also?.
