I think this hint of reworked well-known songs is just a marketing ploy. The only confirmed reworked song is "Love Kills" because it is labelled "Love Kills - The Ballad". The rest of the songs listed in the track list do not have labels to indicate that they are non-album versions.

Marketing ploy ? Surely not ! ( evil laugh )

There is a chance we will get standalone versions of Lily of the Valley and Nevermore , those could be considered "reworked tracks"

Please don't criticize me that I post the same information in another discussion but Gary Taylor stated via FB that we can expect re-takes and altern. takes of well-known songs on this album, so it definitely isn't marketing ploy.

No what he said is "there has to be some surprises" when asked about the topic. That's it

I was looking forward to a new mix of There Must be More To Life Than This. But the oodd riginal (even though the backing is a little dated sounding) is still far superior to the new mix. Freddie's vocals sound as if they have some effect over them which sounds muddy, and the volume has been turned down. Yet Jackson's voice hasn't been tampered with in the same way. I've listened to it a few times hoping that my ears were lying to me, but no - it's fucking horrendous. [/QUOTE]
To me it sounds like they went to phase both the left and right channels of his vocals possibly from two different takes artificially pitch corrected so that they have no characteristics of uniqueness.
Either that or they doubled them and set them slightly off by delay. Either way I gotta agree with the original poster. Even love kills sounds too busy. TMBMTLTT sounds pretty terrible. Hopefully it's a matter of the leaks and me only finding them in heavily compressed versions.
The vocal interplay is completely gone with either FM or MJ taking a verse. Maybe this was a stipulation of the estate?
Even the segue to Michael's voice sounds choppy. Roger sounds wasted trying to sound heavily Richard Starkey-esque. Odd to have two of the greatest recording artists and a few of their passionate deliveries and wind up with a song revisited with no sense of drama
LMIYHA sounds like an incomplete demo (which it is).
Gotta say disappointing as well but eh. Whatever. I was expecting something grandiose. Thankfully I dropped all expectations and was taken by their appearance on YouTube last night

I assumed Michael's part was longer originally but the Jackson estate were charging by the word. It seems more likely than "they forced queen to screw up Freddies vocals" and explains the harsh hard cut there.
I also think Freddie sound terrible because they didn't have multitracks and had to filter the piano from his demo or the music from final version. Just like those youtube mash-ups.

"Don't look back, don't look back, it's a rip-off ... Seduce you with their money-make machine, cross-collateralize (big time money, money). Reduce you to a Muzak fake machine, then the last good-bye. It's a rip-off. Flick of the wrist ... All this time honey, baby you've been had!" -- Freddie Mercury

Bri and Rog guested on Chris Evans Radio 2 show and played all three.' Let me in' is superb, the control, power and emotion of the vocal is fantastic,'Love kills' has just been reworked from the disco original. And 'More to life' is wasted,a great song which now has a flat vocal from Michael and just sounds thrown together. You can hear Deaky on the 'Let me in' one,at least!

If they were allowed to re-work TMBMTLTT then surely both estates (FM's and MJ's) has given them access to Freddie's vocal takes from Mr. Bad Guy recording sessions and FM/MJ recording sessions ?
Freddie's vocal take (esp. first few lines) on the reworked session sounds like it was taken from 82/83' as he is singing more delicate. Roger stated in Chris Evans show that it's from 1981, can someone confirm it ?
