A multiple car pile-up is interesting. So was the Tiananmen Square massacre.

Recording with AL would be a "put up or shut up" moment; Something good, bad or ugly will come out. :-)

"It was really something the record company wanted," Taylor says, "and we did have these three tracks that have never been heard, so we tried to put together an interesting collection."
It's a shame that the idea didn't come out of BM & RT. And what exactly 3 tracks haven't been heard :D ? Only LMIYHA wasn't heard. Where the flying duck was GB when this project began ? He would surely present to Brian and Roger a list of more than 3 tracks which remain unreleased. It's really a shame that the record company had to push musicians to work in a studio. If they really don't want to work on the demos/unifinished tracks then it's time to compile the Queen studio anthology and focus on the live material.

I think he's referring to the 3 tracks that are going to appear on the album

He was referring to these three, yes, but it's incorrect to say Love Kills and There Must Be More to Life Than This have 'never been heard'.

Its sounds like a record company putting the squeeze on the artists to get something out for the Xmas market, and let's have some bonus tracks to make it even more marketable, QF was due out last Xmas remember, basically what I'm saying is that it was a rush job, had Brian & Roger been given carte blanche we may have seen a very different product, with more unreleased tracks. My gut feeling is that we will see some more unheard tracks, but not a lot.

If the record company hadn't wanted a new compilation with bonustracks, Brian and Roger would have been happy to sell the same old Greatest Hits albums without working on anything.
Just like the 2 cd releases from 2011 wouldn't have had even those 5 bonus tracks if Universal hadn't insisted on a bonus disc.

I think its a little bit unfair to claim that.
Of course its in the best interest of the band to release some unreleased stuff from time to time, I think they had it all already planed before changing record label, it would give them a better position in negotiations and ask for a lot more money. My bet is that there was another label giving lots of money for the Queen catalog, if it werent the case, then Universal might as well just wait and have the catalog as part of the EMI deal.
Im sure Universal must have a few unreleased stuff already finished, ready for a release date.

I think Roger is talking about Universal pushing for the MJ track. Perhaps they werent interested in releasing it (let's face it, the song is below average for people as talented as Freddie AND Michael Jackson) but Universal saw the chance to cash an additional money at the benefit of having the MJ album released a few months before.

Which is fair enough, in this case the record company cannot be demonised (not that demons exist ;-) they invest a lot of money in the future output of artists, especially established ones with big vaults.....
Taylor adds that the group did film a show in Sydney and also recorded audio every night, which will result in some sort of release "that will be out there at some point," though no details have been determined.
I'm actually surprised they did this :D

Is simple, Universal want to recover and gain money...and Roger and Brian were liars talking about non famous songs...Only one inedit really. Love Kills is a remake (bad, I preffer always the original disco song), and There must be...is a remix.

I think it's far more likely that Universal are continuing to push for unreleased material and this is all they could get out of QPL. Brian actively doesn't want to let any of the archive out, so it's absurd to suggest Universal are holding back! Christ alive!

They better be pushing for releasing *proper* unheard material.
As for the TMBMTLTT... it can be considered as unheard as the majority of Freddie's vocal is taken from earlier takes. Esp. the beginning of the new mix, he sounds so "young" there / as compared to his raspy voice [Bad Guy solo version] but his part "...so this is life" just before MJ goes in is definitely taken from the official solo 1985 version. Maybe we can trust Roger's word that this performance [in this case - the majority of it] is from 1981 ?

Me too. I was there, it was really surreal. Not only was I seeing Brian and Roger play, having resigned to the fact they'd never come to Australia before they announced it - they also happened to be filming that show. Pretty cool
