I think its a little bit unfair to claim that.
Of course its in the best interest of the band to release some unreleased stuff from time to time, I think they had it all already planed before changing record label, it would give them a better position in negotiations and ask for a lot more money.

QP: So, were thinking of changing record label... Are you interested? How much will you pay us?

U: Of course we are interested. The money depends of what YOU can offer us. I think you will be worth a lot more to us if you can provide the material for 2cd deluxe editions of all the studio albums.

QP: Err... Sure. How much bonus material does one album need?

U: Well, typically we have at least an equal amount of bonus material and previously released material. But the bonus material can be anything you like. A concert, single b-sides, 12" remixes, demo versions of the album... If you only have a handful of demo recordings from an album left, you can use remixes, etc. And if you have more material, we can even make it a 3 cd set.

QP: Okay... So we need five bonus tracks for each album... Do the previously released "cd bonus tracks" count as well? They weren't included on the original vinyl album, after all...

U: I didn't say five tracks, I said you don't have to have a full disc of demos! I suppose the cd bonus tracks could be used for the deluxe edition bonus... If it's only a few tracks, it's not a huge deal either way.

QP: Hmm... I think it's going to be tough to find five tracks for each album... Couldn't you make a bonus cd with three tracks? And I think you could save at least 5p for each record if you included the three bonus tracks on the SAME disc instead of pressing another disc.

U: The whole idea is to make a spectacular re-release which expands the original album, and makes the the customers fee like their getting value for their money when they buy the albums again! That doesn't happen with three bonus tracks on the same disc, because that's what we did in the 90's! Three exclusive tracks is what we need on a compilation!

QP: Oh... Are you telling me that we can't just re-release the Greatest Hits? It is after all the best selling album in the UK.

U: We don't want to sell a hundred thousand copies of the best selling album in the UK, we want to sell a million copies of an average album, with the Universal label on it. Do you think you can find three new songs worthy of a Queen compilation album?

QP: I suppose it's possible...Hey, we're thinking of touring with Adam Lambert. What if we record some live tracks with him?

U: In that case, I don't think Universal is the right company for you.

QP: Oh... Err... I think we could find some Freddie tracks from the vault, and perhaps re-record those.

U: Now that sounds like something we're interested in... What about live recordings? Do you have anything interesting to offer to us? Something with video footage as well?

QP: I don't know if you've heard of it, but we do have this little thing called Live at Wembley... It was released on VHS back in 1990, and it really deserves a bigger audience. It's got all the hits, after all!

U: Do you have anything else?

QP: Err... I don't know... I guess we have have the Montreal show from 1981? Milton Keynes from 1982? Rio from 1985?

U: Do you have anything from the 70's?

QP: Err... I... Umm... I don't remember. I have to check from our archivist. Can I get back to you next week?

Brian and Roger were quite happy to sign on the dotted line and take the cash as it were and continue keep re-re-re-releasing Greatest Hits or Live at Wembley as if they have never been heard before, sometimes it's hilarious watching either one of them on some TV show trying to flog old product as new the only thing new would be a nice sticker on the front saying "Limited Edition". I don't know about others but it seems there is a bigger buzz about the new unheard track LMIYHA as opposed to all the hype about the two remixes which should be a massive wakeup for Brian and Roger they should of released the new song with a great promo video instead of Love Kills.

It will be interesting to see if it comes off in the studio I.e moody Brian and his hissy fits as it seems Roger can work with anyone (coughs Paul Rogers) if an album is made it will just sound like a rock/pop sounding Adam Lambert album just like imo the Cosmos Rocks sounded like a full blown Paul Rogers album. I think an album of many different singers with Brian and Roger would be more appealing or maybe not. I think Brian and Roger thought they would have an easy lazy ride with Universal, message to Universal keep squeezing lol.

Hmm..............ok, a rock-sounding Adam Lambert record with Brian and Roger playing and writing the songs? That sounds pretty good to me actually! Stuff like Aftermath but with a heavy Queen sound.............Maybe with a funkier number or two (ala Trespassing).......for one thing, I think it would sound way more Queen-like than TCR.................

I'd be cool with either that, or what I was thinking about the other day..............say an album with half songs sung by Brian and/or Roger, and the other half guest singers.....(who? I dunno.......Adam and Kerry would be the obvious choices.......maybe Paul while we're at it........(could do a new version of Take Love!!)..........Justin Hawkins would be good..........)
I'll take you to the Seven Seas of Rhye
