And actually, as we know from Mr Bad Guy, Freddie favoured a shit drum sound, drum machines, and loud n cheesy synths, so it's what he would have wanted.

Brenski & inu-liger: Firstly while William Orbit has worked with Madonna,
he does not in any shape or form gel well with Queens music.
He has now fucked up 2 Queen songs, so the evidence is there, open YOUR ears and listen to the carnage.
Madonnas "Ray of light" album has some fair tracks on it but i would not say it was because of William Orbit.
The songs were there and well sung by Madonna, so if a different guy was used you would still have the basic back bone of the tracks there,
ready to go.
Call me an old man inu-liger, but this old man has good taste in music, and knows when Queen are getting short changed.

William Orbit is taking the piss surely with this awful mix of LMIYHA.
Queen should stay away from these vandals who have no respect for a long lost track,
which is so so precious to true Queen fans.
Madonna has made some crap tracks in her time and now i can see why!
you really talk cock sometimes. have you even listened to the Ray of Light album - it's possibly one of the best albums made by anyone in the last 30 years
Er... what? I fail to recognize sarcasm a lot of times, so I must ask you - you REALLY like that horrible piece of shit called Ray of Light?

Didnt say i like "Ray of light" i said it had some fair tracks on the album.
It was Brenski and inu-liger that stated it was a brilliant album so have a go at those 2 pricks.

I quite like the synths thumping away right at the start of this mix, and I do like the fact that he had Freddie's vocals at the start of the second verse out on their own.

Additionally I can appreciate that if you're doing a remix then it should differ (at least in places) to an existing or 'original' mix.

What I am amazed at however is not so much the poor choice of parts elsewhere in the song, but, for an established 'big name' producer to be seemingly inept from a technical point of view with regard to how he has gone about sucking a lot of dynamics out of the parts, created massive clashes of synths and guitars that just don't sit well together, used effects very poorly, and put vocals over intrumental passages that simply don't sit right.

no. he has remixed them. it may not be to your purist taste but that doesn't mean it's a fuck up.
also he isn't responsible for any perceived "fuck up" - if these versions of the songs are the official released items then only TWO people are to blame - Brian & Roger - they've commissioned Orbit to do some work on THEIR product and signed off the finished remixes - allowing this to be released with the Queen name on - then the buck stops with them.
ultimately it's THEIR fuckup alone.

Absolutely have to agree on your points.
The whole track is messed up and towards the end freddies vocals come in on the wrong tempo.
Guitars are out of tune and its just like a rave!
Of all the Queen tracks to ruin, this track was extra special and considering its only seen the light of the day
i would have thought Brian & Roger would be extra careful with who extends it.
Madonna may be happy to have her tracks mashed up in a blender, but touching Freddies vocals is a crime
on planet Queen!

Brenski: your talking utter shit again.
There is dance music added to this Queen track, which takes the track to over 6 mins long.
That is down to william orbit who has ruined this valuable Queen track.
Most people on here have already said the track is ruined, apart from you,
who loves madonna and thinks its ok for Queen to have there track torn to shreds.

Gerry listen. This is a good remix for a good cause. At least admit that its nice the proceeds are going to research for an AIDS cure. You may not like the song but do you really hate the charity aspect? BTW Queen are releasing ALOT of stuff on Itunes that have never been released in the US live at the bowl audio, deep cuts, new versions of greatest hits. This has been a great year!

which is absolutely true. the recording is Queen's so regardless if they got Orbit, or Mirwas or even Qzone's own remix idiot Kacio to fuck it up - it's Queen - brian & Roger's fault if they release something crap. the person doing the remixing is NOT at fault for the release of the product. queen are.
why don't you go back to shouting at pigeons you crazed fucking nutjob

I was one of the first to criticise WO for More to Life due to its obvious faults, but in the case of LMIYHA, I think you're actually exaggerating. Thanks to the mix the song will hopefully become noticed and it sounds fairly current. I know, I also dislike the word "current", but this album was starting to sink even before being released. Situation might change now and purists can still enjoy the classic album version. Also, dare I say, WO managed to add some darker tones to LMIYHA, which is a bit of an achievement, I think.

Shame we can't say the same about More to Life, but having thought about Brian's comments on Radio 2 (along the lines "glad people will be eventually able to hear and enjoy it") it seems they had no choice, but to release it in such form. Shame, because we could have had three very valuable additions to the catalogue, instead we have two and one lost opportunity.

Show me where *I* said that I liked "Ray Of Light," when I've never even once listened to the entire album outside of hearing the mainstream singles issued from that album! Go home Gerry, you're drunk.

What a stupid comment. How stepford can someone be to think that Freddie's vocals are above any "touching" or "remixing"? John Lennon is just as influential as Freddie (or more) and he didn't mind having his vocals distorted for artistic effect.

Also keep in mind that Freddie was an amazing singer and a musical genius but he also went with the times... sometimes with underwhelming results (production and overall sound in Mr. Bad Guy, anyone?). In the 80's he admired that new guy Boy George.

I can't imagine there being a similar outrage when You Don't Fool Me was remixed 16 times back in '95. We had Internet trolls back then too.
Have we forgotten that Freddie approved the Hollywood Records remixes?

Jeez!

Yeah, this is definitely worth pursuing. Has he posted here at all since the dialogue about Houston 1977?
