The problem with anniestu44b's statement is that, while I agree in principle that people whine about AL far too much on this forum, the fact that "respected guys in the music business" think they are a good band, is no reason to think they are a good band. Nor is the fact that people couldn't put on a better world tour themselves a good reason to like them, I couldn't put on a better tour than Taylor Swift either, but it doesn't mean I should like her music.
These are absurd criticisms to throw at people to dispute their opinions, and frankly make this poster look as childish as the whiners she is trying to insult.
I'm going to see the tour in January, but not because Classic Rock magazine gave them an award.

The reason why Queen fans moan is because Freddie was a god and he was the most flamboyant member
of the group so it is no surprise they think Adam Lambert is not up to the job of filling freddies shoes.
Sure the AL + Queen tour was popular this year but only because lots of girls support Lambert a bit like
One Direction in this country, it still does not turn Lambert into a Legend like Freddie.
Lambert comes no where near Freddie's vocal spectrum in terms of brilliance, he just has a sharp tone to his voice
plain and simple.
Queen have now turned in to a very different Rock group now Lambert is truly on board, but they will never reach the dizzy
heights of success in which they had with Freddie.
I think many fans have a right to disapprove of the new set up after all theses ardent fans like myself supported
Queen all those years, 40 years in my case, and it is sad when you see a group only half the strength that they used to be and it is
looking ridiculous now. Yes i hate it, but younger people can not understand why, but there again they have never watched Freddie Mercury
on fire and in front of there eyes like i have, he was a truly magnificent performer, never equaled and never beaten ever!
There is nothing positive about Queen in 2014 or in the future as far as i am concerned, they have bitten the dust without Freddie & John.

disapprove all you like - it makes NO difference.
it's simple economic sense - for every dissenter/rejector/non-sale like yourself, there appears to be 100 new fans.
queen as a business was dead....this thing (much as i don't like it) gave the band a new lease of life.
and think about it Gerry, the continuance of Queen+AL as an operation means Bri & Rog keep going, and by virtue of this we get some new tracks like LMIYHA and TMBMTLTT, and the Live @ Rainbow cd/dvd - so it's swings and roundabouts....just accept the good with the bad - the alternative is zilch.

What I don't get is the people who call themselves fans but won't go and see Brian & Roger play because they don't rate Adam as a singer. I mean I bought my tickets back in 2005 and to be honest I didn't really know who the fuck Paul Rodgers was, it was irrelevant to me who he was, I still don't give a fuck about him. Same in 2012, I went to Hammersmith without a fucking clue who Adam Lambert was, it was irrelevant who the vocalist was, I was going to see Brian and Roger playing their music.
Who is a better fit Paul or Adam? I don't give a fuck, although I do have my own opinion.
The only reason I will be in London in January is to see the lads play their music, to be a part of it, to look back in the future and say "yeah I was there", rather than "I didn't go because I didn't rate the vocalist" I know which side of the fence I prefer to be on.
Freddie is dead kids, he's not hiding out with Elvis on an Island somewhere calculating his comeback after being cured of Aids. Accept it, move on. Live in the now.

sure i agree with what you are saying but i only collect Pure Queen products.
I think now Brian & Roger do not take Queen as a serious act, i mean how could they with an american idol contestant
on board, and they have made lots of bad musical decisions since freddie died, such as working with 5ive and Dappy, etc.........
They have thrown the name Queen around like a hooker.
I now learn that they plan a studio album with AL, but if it is anything like the last album "The Cosmos Rocks"
then it will be a flop. I never bought that one either.
I just got a fab new box set celebrating 50 years of "Suzi Quatro" fab!

I agree that 5ive and Dappy are particularly egregious examples. If they'd done something good with those pop stars, maybe that would be different, but neither record is good. I'm not sure how they can write a track like C-Lebrity with a straight face either, considering their career choices recently.
Brian & Roger put on a good show though. It's not Queen, and nobody they hire to sing could do as good a job as Freddie, or John for that matter, but it's still a good show, and that's all that matters.

You never bought that one either, but you feel qualified to pass a judgement.
I think that sums you up perfectly Gerrald.
One other point, a few posts back you claimed that Queen and Adam Lambert will never be as successful has they were with Freddie. Well the last time they played the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand with the original line they didn't sell as many tickets as this time. . . So as a live attraction they are as, if not more successful in some markets.
Because you don't like what they are doing now is no reason to rubbish every note played continuously. We all have the message, some don't agree with you, others are willing to let them get on with it. Your choice is not to buy a ticket, or album if there ever is one, which is fine, but why can't you let those who are enjoying the shows (fans and band alike) just get on with it.

I do agree. Working with the likes of 5ive and that Dappy scumbag and even Adam is all about bringing in a younger audiance, it gives Queen exposure in markets and demographics they are not active in. Sadly it is simply business, these are great projects that keep the band relivant, what is produced from these projects is secondary to the exposure. From a business point of view it is a fantastic plan, not so much from an artistic point of view.
They have done a great job keeping the band relevant, in a world without Freddie they are doing the best job they can. I would not like to see another new Queen+ album with Adam on vocals either, especially after the cosmos sucks.
The Comos Rocks is shit from track 1 to the end, SINT is maybe the only exception. Generic, commercial, painting by numbers music with lyrics that induce motion sickness. Paul, Brian & Roger should be embarrassed by it, they are capable of so much more.

Given the musical distance between let's say Jazz and Hot Space in four years. You weren't really expecting the first Queen album to feature a different singer to sound like classic 70's Queen, were you?

Exactly thats my point Brian & Roger have robbed themselves of better things.
They have wasted many years been Queen + whoever and that means they are not content with what they are doing.
Freddie was my fav Queen member so naturally i will support him from all you guys on here who are not bothered
who takes the lead vocalist roll.
Artists at Freddies tribute concert had a lot of bother singing the Back Queen catalogue, Roger Daltrey, Robert Plant,
Annie Lennox, Lisa Stansfield all struggled with Freds songs.
Even Paul Young said Freddie was the only one who could do the songs justice.
Now Brian May claimed in "Classic Rock" that AL could sing anything as well as Freddie!
To hear that from Mr May just makes me think Brian has lost respect for Freddie, and just thinking about his bank balance.
How could he say AL is on equal terms as a Rock Legend who is known the world over as Freddie Mercury?
i feel hurt by that silly comment Brian.

No not at all. I did expect something better though considering the project was produced by three very accomplished artists. It is a very poor album in my opinion.

Marknow: you are correct with what you say.
The Cosmos Rocks was a poor album, and sounded rushed.
We all know Paul Rodgers has a great rock voice but it was a shame the songs on the cosmos rocks
let him and Queen down, even the single "C-LEBRITY flopped big time.
I too have little faith in Queen recording with Lambo, as that too will flop.
The songs are very important and i feel May & Taylor are past there creative days of making
classics the way they used too.
They can both play live and sound fantastic, but they do need a good singer with a personality.

I thought Cosmos Rocks was a poor album too. I didn't expect it to sound like classic Queen, but i'd rather it hadn't sounded like Bad Company. It was just very... unadventurous, and that to me is the antithesis of what Queen were all about.
The tour was great though, saw them at the NEC, and they blew the roof off.
