Might be fun. Personally, I'm taking the missus to see Kylie at Newcastle arena. We've got 'Gold' tickets. I believe that gets me a lap dance or something off the tight bottomed Aussie lady or something.

I suppose the only saving grace is that the title of the programme is pretty on the mark: it's 'nation' and 'favourite, not 'fans' and 'best', so we can pretty much guess the top ten, know we're not getting anything new, but be thankful the band are having a show dedicated to them on prime time tv, giving the new release some great exposure.

10 quid on Brian saying he wrote Save Me about fucking badgers (if there are interviews in the show that is..)

Can't see it being much better than the last time they did something similar about 15 years ago.

we can't know for sure what the outcome will be...only safe bet is the winner will be whichever song Gerry called and voted for...55,000 times

I guess this programme is well tied in with the release of Queen Forever. I would've got excited a few years ago but I won't be watching it. I don't care what the casual fans like, to be honest. It'll be a case of, pick any 10 tracks from GH 1 & 2, focused on the dodgy 80s period. I think I preferred it when Queen actually weren't cool :D

70s Queen are the best...

Is this the general opinion throughout the board that everyone prefers Queen from the 70's?
I thought they got 10x better in the 80's.

I think in essence, yes it is. They were a very different 'beast' by the mid 80s so you could argue that it's unfair to compare, but it's only natural to do so. The 80s songs (especially the singles) were generally brilliant pop songs, but that isn't necessarily what a lot of die hard fans like about the band.
As a rule, you can pick any album from the debut up to The Game and find very few 'fillers' or dud tracks. Even those that difffer in style, feel, intent etc.. still have a complexity, depth, true reativity and vision to them. From Hot Space onwards you can pick any album and find a few tracks that will generally be seen as 'below par' by a majority of golks here.
To think that there was only approx 6 years between the recording of A Night At The Opera and Hot Space is frightening!

Indeed. Body Language is exactly 10 times better than Bohemian Rhapsody. Maybe we could even go up to 11 on that.

10 times better in the 80's? Are we talking about the music or Freddies facial hair here?
