Hey, John. If you're no longer using your basses, i don't see the harm in just letting one of them go.
I really enjoyed your deep sounds on A KIND OF MAGIC and enjoyed your strangely rhythmic stylings on things like PAIN IS SO CLOSE TO PLEASURE. .. even though it's A KIND OF FORGOTTEN TRACK.
The point is. I LOVE the work you did on the BIGGLES soundtrack and I even LOVE "MY BABY DOES ME" ...
I may be the only person who feels as such.
And then RAIN MUST FALL
.. I feel it's an underappreciated tribute to the style of STEVIE WONDER in the 80's and I find it's beautiful
It resounds with a lighthearted groove then culminates with a blazing guitar solo that leaves you wanting for more.
The point I want to make ( *and this may be the 12th time I say so in the annals of this site)
Let me have one of your basses if you're not using them.
I'd really appreciate it.
I've worked out a semi original method of tapping supportive melody on songs that doesn't encumber the player.
It would be great and almost transcendent to be able to present this method on one of your basses.
I had a cheap o p bass that I'd rewired with EMG's. But unfortunately it had been stolen years ago.
I understand the broad- simplicity of the instrument and know it's capabilities.
I'm just asking to have one of your basses since you'veretired. Long time fan. Used to be an incredible historian of QUEEN music until you stopped participating --- Matt -Z from California

Btw. I once annotated all the bass notes I perceived in THE MILLIONAIRES WALTZ one time.
It was jarring for a kid, but in reality I figured out it's really very basic for someone who's got the ears and sensibility to understand the 12 tones in the western music sphere.
I can't guarantee I can pull off what you've done *(brought tamla Motown style James Jamerson style bass lines to the public BEHIND successful and beautiful songs) but I'll try!

AFAIK his retirement was because he never liked being famous and have nothing to do with Freddie's death.

Of course, its just speculation but it is the way I see things.
I have talked about this a lot of times and usually people jump to the conclusion that I hate John or something like that, but the truth is, I love every single one of his songs, they are very different to everything Brian, Roger and Freddie did.
Perhaps I see it in this way because most of the musicians I like (Blackmore, Malmsteen, Zappa, Fripp, Waters etc) tend to be assholes in real life, lol
