In the QFC magazine spring 90, John´s letter quoted " At the moment we´re all sitting in a studio in London analysing and discussing the last few vocals lines of a song called "Dont try so hard"..." so probably they started to record late 89 because Queen normally recorded guide vocals at the end of each song.

What song was recorded last for Innuendo?
The Show Must Go On, I guess. The album was finished in November 1990 so they must have started working on an epic that could finish the album. Brian said it was a complicated process and that Freddie was very ill (but determined to sing the exhausting vocals).

My Secret Fantasy was also recorded in November 1990. I have no clue whether Self Made Man or Robbery were recorded during this period of time. It doesn't really matter anyways, they were just outtakes or "ideas". They weren't intended to be publicized.

A slightly offtopic question: Am I the only one who havent heard/found the song Africa by Night online? I remember it was very easy to find it and never listened and suddenly, when I wanted to hear it, it was impossible to find it lol
Are you sure about that? I remember looking for it online years ago and never found anything.

Has anyone here actually have heard Africa by Night ? Is it very similar to All Gods People?

As far as I know, Africa By Night has never been leaked.

Yup, 100% sure it was available online.
I remember it was available in an old sharing site called Audiogalaxy, I saw it back in year 2000 aprox, I was in a Yahoo! Group, there was a Queen group and we used to share files using Yahoo! Briefcase (I think we could share about 4 or 5 128kb mp3 files due to storage restriction) and there were some people sharing bootlegs and demos... Unless Im mistaken (which Im sure Im not) or someone had uploaded a fake file...
Queen: Roger Taylor, Mike Grose, Freddie Mercury, Brian May.

Surely a fake file.
If that file were the real demo, that mp3 would have been surfaced the whole web 'cause of bootlegs.
Don't forget my collection of demos and outtakes: http://goo.gl/uQARhn PM me if you want any [leaked] multitrack. Ya se ven los tigres en la lluvia.

We're all God's Africans by Midnight
"Come tonight! Come see the Overbite! Come to Ogre Battle, FIGHT!"

However with all the "Apocalipsis fuss" going on in All Gods People, i assume a song called Africa By Night would have a very different treatment. I am so curious about that demo !

I think it was Lost Opportunity, recorded AFTER the release of Innuendo back in January 1991.
Interesting. Do you have a source to back that up?

I've often wondered about 'Lost Opportunity' - the drums sound is unlike Innuendo, and I wondered when it may have been recorded; potentially in down time for the album when Fred was unavailable? I am doubtful that John, Brian and Roger would have got together separately after the sessions had 'wrapped up', bearing in mind Freddie's health - would they really have wants him to see them 'cracking on' with out him whilst he was literally on his death bed??

I've always assumed that Lost Opportunity was a reject from Brian's Back To The Light -sessions, and wouldn't even include the rest of Queen... Has it been confirmed anywhere that John and Roger actually play on it?

It mentioned in the notes for Innuemdo 2011 deluxe 2CD. Same kind of 'interesting' info is for Thank God It's Christmas in the notes for The Works 2011 deluxe 2CD.

Strangely enough, that a lot of people didn't notice these crumbs of useful info in the overall useless notes for 2011 remasters.

Couldn't say for sure with regard to John, but my ears are the proof enough for me that it is 100% Roger on drums! :-)

I couldn't recognise his playing if my life depended on it, but I'll take your word for it. ;)

I suppose it doesn't exclude the possibility of using an existing recording? I would be really disappointed to find out that this track was specifically composed and recorded as the last Queen track to be released before Freddie's death... (The single would have actually been better without this b-side song!)
