I am 50 this year, I first saw Queen '82 at Elland Road, then the 4 times on the Queenworks tour, that they initially anounced the 4 dates for. But couldn't get tickets for the extra gigs. Then in 86 I left my girlfriend at the time to queue up for Queen tickets at Manchester, my home city, so I could see them. I did see her again though, er, sometimes.

The last great album Queen ever did, was the Game. So many people on this site, love 80's Queen. How sad is that? If Queen started in 1982, I would not be a fan. Which is why, people who discovered rhem after 1982 are not real Queen fans.

When I first saw Queen in 1982 as a nervous 17 year old, who could have bought a million tickets for that gig at Elland Rd, you really wouldn't have known how badly the press viewed Queen. I couldn't even get anyone to go with me, however the Works tour, I could have got many to go with me, which I did.

Hot Space is an album I do actually like, the rest after it, I don't. Had I discovered Queen after 1984, I would not be a fan. Every album after that is awful.

So I get, most people on here love 80's Queen, I don't. Under Pressure, was the last great song they did, IMO.

Tonights gig, was dreadful. I expect to get trolled. But if Roger and Brian want a frog singing..., then I don't. I have paid so much more money for Queen stuff than 80's and beyond fans and I don't give a toss about you.

But to be a Queen fan in the 70's was embarrassing, to be a Queen fan now, is even more so. Adam Lambert is dreadful, Bryan May is burned out. Spike Edney is a joke. And tonights show was horrendous. My opinion, which, you will have a go at. But in this format, I would not become a fan. I first heard Queen sing Seven seas of Rhye, then I was a fan. Those that will have a go at me, like Tom Christie, first heard the MIH, album, which was also dreadful. I'm a real Queen fan, but embarrassed by last nights performance.

agree, I bought my first queen lp the day after my tenth birthday, 20 jan 83. In the the subsequent 12 months got their back catalogue and as such have always been a fan of 70s Queen. I don't think I would have liked the, if my first exposure was The Works. Saw them once at Wembley Stadium, got lost from my dad as soon as the gates opened and did not see him again until the end, in those pre-mobile phone days you you just agree to meet somewhere at a certain time and not worry, great times!

Anyway last night, my other half kept commenting on how lame it was and I have to agree. Adam is a technically great singer but the generation gap makes it look like an X Factor show. Do we really need and extra percussionist on stage? Nepotism?

Boring, boring boring. I have some free tickets for O2 but after last night nit sure if I want to go. It will be 7 year old first gig, but maybe I'll wait until something good comes along.

Great reply, Maths. Altough I do think Roger's son is far more worthwhile than Spike.

I do not mean to alienate any Queen fans after 1980's, it's just that i would not have been a fan if i was born in the 80's. Being a Queen fan in the 70's especially at school was embarrassing, especially when the punk era arrived. At the time I never like the Sex Pistols or the Jam, but love those now and other bands of that ilk. But for me A Day at the Races and Queen II and even The Game are my favourite Queen albums. After Hot Space, Queen were awful.

Like last nights gig.

Day Dop

Can you convince me, The Works, A Kind Of Magic, The Miracle, Innuendo and Made In Heaven are great albums?

I'm waiting...

No, because music taste is subjective. What are you asking me that for anyway?

"If Queen started in 1982, I would not be a fan. Which is why, people who discovered rhem after 1982 are not real Queen fans."

^ Can you not see how preposterous it is what you've said there?

Adam Lambert & Queen were shit last night, and as i have been saying all along May is stupid tampering with Queens longevity, Queen are far too special to be getting any tom dick or harry to fill in Mercury's ballet shoes darlings, so just leave it alone and move on to something more worthwhile!
I am glad i have not paid good money to see this shity tour in 2015.
Paul Rodgers could at least sing, but Adam Lambert needs more practice, he is NOT cut out as a rock singer, but he is just a glorified cruise ship singer!
Not too late to get your refunds people!
May & Taylor looked burnt out, and even there performance was lacking the usual sparkle last night!

Day Dop, no I can't see how prepostorus it is. People like Tom Christie and even Sebastion, think they have all the knowledge on Queen.

They don't. Queen, were lower than low in the 70's however from 1984 they were massive, but crap.

I was there, you two wasn't. That's my opinion, I saw them live. Did you?

unless it's Odell, Neville or Stiles, eh?

and what's with all the "darlings" in your posts lately? how pretentious is that?
are you some fantasist that thinks if you talk like Freddie you'll become the 50-yr-old embodiment and personification of him?

That was harsh saying they were lower than low in the 70s!
Queen were brilliant in the 70s and 80s.
i was at Elland Road in May 1982 and Queen were on fire!
I saw them 2 years later at Birminghams N.E.C and again they delivered big time.
You can not knock Queen with Freddie leading the band, because they pulled out all the stops on tour and gave
a spectacular show!
Adam Lambert on the other hand was lower than low last night!
absolutely crap.

Brenski: its always charming to add a little flavour to ones posts,
so yeah talking of Freddie, its always nice to know how he was so such a regal character
and yes adding "darling" to my posts keeps his regal qualities alive and kicking!
Freddie was the man!

Look how you've wrote that again, or are you really that self centered and ignorant. Surely not!

What you've essentially written there is: because you wouldn't be a fan if they started out in '82, that's why people who discovered them after '82 are not real fans. Oh right, you're the center of the universe.

And have you ever heard of such as thing as back catalog?

By your logic, people who love the music of Mozart aren't real fans because they weren't (for example) alive when he started out.

See the issues with what you said now?

"lower than low" in the 70's ????- what friggin planet were you on back then?
Anyway, as expected, last night was awful, it hit me like a sone,Adam Lambert is Conchita Wurst without the drag, seriously, the looks , the voice, the lot, it's uncanny.

Lower than low in the 70's, by that I mean music press wise. The first time the music press started to like Queen all be it begrudgingly was after Live Aid in 85.

When I was at school in the 70's I was too embarrassed to say to my friends that my favourite band was Queen. It really was that bad. Remember Queen were not invited to the origional Band Aid recording in 1984, why was that, would you think? Queen's reputation was very, very low.

But Live Aid in 1985 changed that and saved Queen's career.
