I am 50 this year, I first saw Queen '82 at Elland Road, then the 4 times on the Queenworks tour, that they initially anounced the 4 dates for. But couldn't get tickets for the extra gigs. Then in 86 I left my girlfriend at the time to queue up for Queen tickets at Manchester, my home city, so I could see them. I did see her again though, er, sometimes.

The last great album Queen ever did, was the Game. So many people on this site, love 80's Queen. How sad is that? If Queen started in 1982, I would not be a fan. Which is why, people who discovered rhem after 1982 are not real Queen fans.

When I first saw Queen in 1982 as a nervous 17 year old, who could have bought a million tickets for that gig at Elland Rd, you really wouldn't have known how badly the press viewed Queen. I couldn't even get anyone to go with me, however the Works tour, I could have got many to go with me, which I did.

Hot Space is an album I do actually like, the rest after it, I don't. Had I discovered Queen after 1984, I would not be a fan. Every album after that is awful.

So I get, most people on here love 80's Queen, I don't. Under Pressure, was the last great song they did, IMO.

Tonights gig, was dreadful. I expect to get trolled. But if Roger and Brian want a frog singing..., then I don't. I have paid so much more money for Queen stuff than 80's and beyond fans and I don't give a toss about you.

But to be a Queen fan in the 70's was embarrassing, to be a Queen fan now, is even more so. Adam Lambert is dreadful, Bryan May is burned out. Spike Edney is a joke. And tonights show was horrendous. My opinion, which, you will have a go at. But in this format, I would not become a fan. I first heard Queen sing Seven seas of Rhye, then I was a fan. Those that will have a go at me, like Tom Christie, first heard the MIH, album, which was also dreadful. I'm a real Queen fan, but embarrassed by last nights performance.

I'm too lazy to read all the posts but it's not a third of queen. It's half of queen, genius. Unless John Deacon surprised everyone and showed up. How can you be a fan at all if you didn't notice the bass player was different

It's actually impossible for a third of Queen to be awful.......when theres only 2 of em on stage these days.......

It wasn't the whole music press that hated Queen in the 70's, it was a relatively small number of articles that dammned them, ("is this man a prat"), et al. There were countless favourable articles as well. But......it did seem fashionable in the music press to give them bad record reviews, which is nothing unusual, they rarely get it right, always ego tripping, I'm a clever shite, aren't I. The name Charles Shar Murray, springs to mind. He's still cropping up on tv now, usually on BBC4 specials, and he STILL has his head up his stupid arse.
"is this man a prat?"........let's think now........legendary status, one of the most brilliant live performers of all time, an unrivalled song writing and performance cv, greatly missed...........nope, don't think he's remembered as a prat.

I just finished watching the recording. Awful? No, definitely not. Fantastic, no, not at all. They were "OK", nothing more, nothing less. The magic is gone forever, deal with it, I learned to deal with it. The "old" Queen we all loved is gone and will never come back. BTW I enjoyed this MUCH more than any of the early 2014 shows, Adam finally learns how to be a Queen frontman and a rock singer in general, he's not as annoying as he used to be.

BTW I was born in 1981 and I started to listen to Queen somewhere around 1989/1990/1991 (sometimes between Miracle and Innuendo), became a "standard" fan around the Made In Heaven time, and a collector around the end of the last century, I didn't know that I'm not a "real" Queen fan until I read the first post

Mr Gerry
Don't try to use the "I saw queen live" card because you may not be able to get this through your thick skull. A lot of people saw Queen live too and more times than you! I'm reasonably sure some here have been to more Queen concerts with the original lineup than you. I'm reasonably sure some were at the important ones (Rainbow,Hammersmith, earls court,Milton Keynes ,wembley, Knebworth)

Hmm....I dunno, I saw em in July, and I think Adam sounds about the same now.......

I do think he's improved a bit over the 2012 shows I've heard, though.....

Day Dop

Can you convince me, The Works, A Kind Of Magic, The Miracle, Innuendo and Made In Heaven are great albums?

I'm waiting...
I don't think it will convince you at all, but I think Innuendo is a great album......the title song, Show Must Go On, Slightly Mad, and Days Of Our Lives are great, the rest is solid (well except Delilah...lol)....MIH's got some great stuff too.......The Miracle's strong, aside from a few songs I dont like........

So here we are Happy New Year to all Queen fans all over the world.Yet with a new year some people just go on and on and on and on about Adam Lambert and how he ruins every thing that he touches.Get this in your brains AL has mas made Queen to be there most popular in USA ever since Hot Space ,Freddies tach and Break Free Video. They have had a sell out tour and are about to have a sell out tour in UK.Of course i loved the band more with John and Freddie but it is what it is now and deal with it or just look back on your fond memories.

If you don't like the new tour that's more than fair mate, personally I loved it. Adam is no Freddie and he doesn't try to be either, he doesn't sound like Fred because he is not Fred. We all agree that Fred was unique, a master of his trade, lauded around the globe as maybe the best male vocalist and live performer  ever. Fred was a brilliant vocalist, a brilliant showman. Adam has his own voice and I feel it is not half as bad as people make out, he also has a great stage presence which I am sure will develop even more in time.

It is a shame that you cannot see any good in this tour because of AL. Well over 500,000 people went to see them in 2014 at mostly sold out venues in N.America, Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, most left with a very positive experience, even the press reports were largely positive.

I respect your opinion and I'm not trying to change it but why not adopt a live and let live policy. Brian and Roger don't need anybody's approval to play their songs, the music they created.

I do think you are picking a fight you really don't need to pick by labeling fans post 1982/84 as not real fans, they grew up in the shite era and still became fans! :) I think the majority of fans would agree that Queen did their best work in the 70's though....

Horse feathers: I do understand where you are coming from, i too felt sick to my stomach watching Adam Lambert last night,
Does he have to sing with his tongue hanging out like some sort of freak in high heels.
He sings like he is in the west end so the music sounds wooden, and harsh, but everyone to there own,
If the public like what they see well its there money going going gone!
Brian & Roger are taking the piss out of Queen fans and loving it, especially with some fans accepting this ridiculous
collaboration which is as limp as lettuce in the rain.
Still Brian & Roger are not bothered who fronts the band anymore, they are nearly both 70 so all the money they make from fools going to see
this joke of a tour is just pocket money to them.
Anyway the wind blows, so it seems!

Day Dop, no I can't see how prepostorus it is. People like Tom Christie and even Sebastion, think they have all the knowledge on Queen.
Umm, have they actually stated this?

They have done a fuck load of research to accumulate the knowledge they have. Sebastian especially. He absolutely is one of the world's top ten experts on Queen.

Can you say the same for yourself?

Remember Queen were not invited to the origional Band Aid recording in 1984, why was that, would you think? Queen's reputation was very, very low.

But Live Aid in 1985 changed that and saved Queen's career.
Queen's reputation was no better in early 1985 when Geldof asked them to do Live Aid, so that doesn't really add up.
