i think could be a boxset about the 30 years of A Kind of Magic (end of 2015).
there are a lot of material not worlwide release or unreleased (princes of the universe alt. vers.,who wants to live forever with the beginning of freddie, one year of love ext., new york new york, etc...).
this album was one of the best sellers in the '80s, and the last played live with Freddie, so......

Would be nice to finally hear some unheard before studio stuff/outtakes, not only live releases. Knowing how much there's still hiding in the vaults....

I really hope it's a Hammersmith '75/'79 boxset
or the 1977 USA tour documentary with Houston

I think the A Kind of Magic idea has really been done with the Magic Tour releases in recent years, and I don't think it's regarded as a classic album amongst the fans, although I actually really like it. Soundtrack to my childhood and all, last album before Kylie and Jason set the musical youth onto the road that would lead to X-factor ;-)

I would love to see a proper release of every LP on vinyl, using analogue masters or as close to it as they could get, and perhaps this could be released in a boxed set form, and like the complete works boxed set they could include an LP like 'Complete Vision' with B-sides, and 12" remixes etc to remind us of the spirit of the times. I quite like the idea of a 7" singles box, or even a 12" singles box, but I think LP releases would be more sellable.

I'm surprised none of this has actually happened - the EMI vinyls were deleted after only a few months in 2009, and by all accounts they weren't that good anyway.

Any of the classic live tours would also be welcome. I'm surprised Earl's Court isn't regarded as being good enough for release - haven't they been playing that at conventions for decades now?

We have a good account of the Wembley concert now, but what about Knebworth? It surprises me that they've never done a full LP/CD release of Knebworth, since it was the last one. OK, so they didn't film it, but they have the audio, no?

What about anything from the A Night At The Opera tour? They could release something obscure even, like Caird Hall 1975.

I'm not sure they should do another Night At The Opera album retrospective. They did quite a lot for that in 2005 didn't they?

Which tours do we not have an official release from? There are quite a number aren't there? Hammersmith 1979 would be good, but that seems to me to be more of a CD/DVD thing than a full on boxed set. I'm just brainstorming now.

Oh, fuck the box set. Anorak levels of tediousness about this god damn box set.

Greg Brookes said it is going to be a 'live' box set on par with Live at the Rainbow. So it isn't going to be a studio album based box set. Secondly he also said that they aren't going to be governed by anniversaries. So just because it 40 years since A night at the Opera or 30 years since love in Rio etc etc it doesn't mean that will be the next release. If Hyde Park, Earls Court, Hammersmith and Houston and fit for a stand alone release then surely it will be either an 80's box set or a 70's box set (which I would prefer). We've already had 86 done to death so I very much doubt Knebworth will get a release although what they have on audio could be included in an 80's box set along with parts of Rio (both nights) Japan 85 and 82, South America 81 etc. What do we know the band have in terms of master multi tracks and master reels for inclusion in a box set! P.S, sorry for my 2 blank posts above.

I sincerely hope we don't get a '70s box set'. It'll be an excuse for them to include things in incomplete form, and they'll see it as having fulfilled that obligation of 70's concerts. Brian and Roger would probably never feel compelled again to have something from the 70s released, having been assured that this box set was the be all and end all. Really devastating thought.

Nah, they can't be that short sighted.

I think a box set would still be nice - ten tracks from Hyde Park 76, Earls Court 77 and Paris 79 each. Just like the Zeppelin DVD. With what they have this is definitely feasible.

Of course the complete shows would be nice, but let's face it - most of Queen's best shows weren't filmed.

Brian confirmed Hammersmith 1975 and a solo box set in the recent official podcast.
