the previous version has a bit better color balance and maybe brightness but seems to be from a higher generation copy.
I'm not trying to split hairs, but The Kurgan version was actually recorded by him via the feed, so it cannot be a higher generation copy.

If it was in a trade then the trader you got it from has a better copy.
I suppose so. But it never surfaced anywhere and maybe never will.
P.S. The 'Merci' bit, that you have downloaded, is from 27/02. That's why it's not presented in my version.

^ The convention ''broadcast'' did include it though.

Good point. Didn't know that but still antiden's version looks a bit better. I correct myself, not "way better" ;)

Barry, in the Yesshkul torrent there's no seeders. Can you upload that version here?

Ok. The thing with Convention recordings is that they were played out from either a VHS or U Matic player, pumped through a distributer and sent down an RF cable to hundreds of chalets. The further away from the source you were, the worse the picture.
So. It IS possible that Kurgan's recording could be bettered.
I know my own recordings varied from year to year depending on where I was on that damn Pontins site, and when Channel 5 started broadcasting, they were plagued by interference as can be seen on my Hammy 79 that was shared a long time ago.
I've still got proper video capture equipment, so if Antiden wishes to send me his tape, I can capture it to a DV AVI, clean it up a little and do a proper edit with the other source. Much better than messing about with mpeg2 sources.

Right on all counts, let's hope he takes you up on the offer. There is also a nice alternative video source of ''Dreamers Ball'' that could replace the cut version on the convention recordings.

The official release? One of the online streams released in the last years

By the way, has the logo-free and timecounter-free version of the Paris merge been shared?

I mean this one.

Oh man, that's glorious. It eats the others for breakfast, where they now sound like there's a blanket over the speakers. There are a few quality flaws, probably from a bad VHS tape somewhere down the line - but this is by far the clearest version I've ever heard.
Could you or someone please rip the audio from this DVD and share it as a single long FLAC file !?
Then I can listen through it and clean it up as best as I can, and our friend Nitroboy can synch it to whatever we all agree is the best video source. I'll leave that to you guys.

It is possible the VHS tape has two sound tracks, HI-FI and linear mono (although they would both be mono) The linear mono track might be a better option (if you remember the FM DoRo documentary audio problem) but would probably have slightly more hiss. It depends on whether a HI-FI or mono VCR was used to make the copy.
