2 years later.... "mum, dad, Freddie will be performing tonight with Montserrat Caballé (the famous "La Nit" festival honouring the Barcelona '92 Olympics) and it's free, and I want to see Freddie at last, please, please, we could go together, it will be great!"
Mum & dad reply: "you're nuts?? There will be thousands and thousands of people there! Besides, the show is being aired live on TV! We better watch it here at home!"

No.....!

And I thought I had terrible parents for not letting me go to see Brian in 1998 twice (I only went to 1 show that tour).

Let me see.

I saw Brian at Aston Villa Leisure centre on Back to the Light tour.

Also saw Brian at some fan club thing at Hammersmith (?) late 90s, he came on dressed as Elvis. I'm not in the fan club, I went with a friend who is.

Saw the final Cross gig at Gosport, and also saw Roger there the year after. I think I may have seen a general stop on the Happiness tour, but I can't remember now.

Saw the Cross re-union gig a few years ago.

Seen Q+PR at the NEC on their first tour, and Queen +AL at Leeds this year.

Earls Court '77
Wembley '78
Lyceum London '79 (crazy tour)
Wembley all 3 nights '80
Brussels '82
Wembley 2 nights '84
Wembley stadium '86
Q+PR Wembley and 02 2008
Q+AL Hammersmith 2012
Q+AL 02 2015

Best memory was from Wembley 80. Went out the back of the arena after the show and saw all four members drive away in their individual limos. Quite a crowd, Brian was last to leave and suddenly stopped , got out of the limo and as I recall spent ages signing autographs for everyone that was there - an autograph which I have now lost damn it !!!!

I was fortunate to see them twice; Providence, RI on 11-14-78 and again in Providence on 8-26-80. Probably THE best Rock and Roll shows I've ever seen and heard!!!

^ Me too! I was extremely bitter when I saw pidge123's post T_T
(I was being bitter before you Beta, I just wasn't at home to voice it out.)

@ Vali and people on streets:
I can feel the hurt ~~~~
Why didn't go to the gig anyway and happily accept your parents' punishment afterward? :D

Actually I thought matt z was being very very clever. Including the 'typo' bit in the next post.

Brian May Band, Edinburgh PlayHouse 1993
Roger Taylor, Liquid Rooms Edinburgh 1999
Brian May, Reading 1999
Queen & PR, O2, Dublin 2005

Roger gig probably the best of the above.

yep. five times between 79 (b'ham NEC) and 86 (knebworth)...my Milton Keynes crappy 110 instamatic camera photos were posted on here some time ago - i was luck enough to be approx 15 feet from the stage - directly in front of Freddie at MK.
other gigs
79 b'ham NEC - my first gigs after starting work (i'd been at work one month)
82 - MK - great day out
84 - NEC - nice stage set, nice show, but the NEC acoustics were a little tinny/echoey
86 - wembley - good gig
86 - knebworth - fantastic end of tour gig -

nb - some of the lesser bands on the 86 gigs were great - Alarm, INXS esp...and even Quo did a good job
go deo na hÉireann The best QZ epoch: BG17-00 (Before Gerry 1996-2013)

Got to see Queen, the Brian May Band and QPR and QAL in:

[listu] [li]1978 - New Orleans, Louisiana - (Halloween Night - didn't get a chance to make it to the "infamous party" though) [li]1978 - Oakland, California Dec 16th - great show - actually remember more of this one than the one in New Orleans; remember a lady sitting next to me who worked for a record company saying "I hope they don't get any bigger than they are now or they'll lose a lot of their uniqueness".  [li]1980 - Essen, Germany - Nov 29th - for some reason "Need Your Loving Tonight" stands out [li]1980 - Frankfurt, Germany - Dec 14th - just after Lennon was shot - remember them playing "Imagine" [li]1982 - Frankfurt, Germany - Apr 28th - they seemed overly energetic - maybe to makeup for the lack of interest in Hot Space? [li]1993 - Birmingham, Alabama - Feb 24th - Brian May Band - opened for Guns N' Roses - was able to get in early and watch a bit of the sound check - felt bad for Brian and the band during their show as the kids in attendance really weren't sure who Brian May was and were there strictly for Guns. [li]2006 - San Diego, California - Queen + Paul Rodgers - Apr 1st, loved the show even though I pretty much knew the running order because the release of the "Return of the Champions" CD/DVD.  Thought Paul Rodgers did a great job on the Queen songs his voice was capable of singing and the "Bad Company/Free" songs were very good. The volume seemed much lower than I remember the previous Queen shows I'd been too.  [li]2014 - Houston, Texas - Queen + Adam Lambert - was happy to see some songs performed that Paul Rodgers couldn't but wasn't, and still am not, a fan of Adam Lamberts voice overall although his new single "Ghosttown" is pretty good.  The show was good and I'm glad I went because I fear they'll never tour the USA again.  [/listu]
