I think Hammersmith Odeon is a really boring concert. At the same time, I am really happy that they're going to release it and I'm definitely buying the most "luxury" edition. Why? Because I want all 70's releases to be a huge commercial success, so that we can look forward to stuff like Hyde Park, Earls Court, Hammersmith Odeon 79, Paris 79 or anything from my favourite Queen era (1977-1979) they plan to release.

Maybe some people is looking this in a selfish way. Not everybody is a hardcore Queen fan and have bootlegs of the band, so to many, this show may be a surprise and another opportunity to watch the early Queen.[/QUOTE]

I think people who are not hardcore fans would be ESPECIALLY disappointed by this concert, simply because the performance is sub-par. Just like the stream of Wembley-re-re-re-releases gave the general public a skewered view of what Queen live means.

I think that's a very optimistic view to take. If I look at the details known so far, it looks to me like this release is breaking with the Rainbow-approach: this looks to be a bare-bones release with very little supplementary material. I'm starting to fear that the beautiful Rainbow '74 box is going to be a one-off, and any further releases might be more like Hammy '75...

I don't think the general public are usually as critical of Queen's live performances as people on this site are. Not everybody's worried about how many C5's Freddie hits.

As if there isn't a lot more about what makes a good and an exciting concert release.

I find Freddie's performance of ITLOTG:R really good in Hammersmith. He does some cool embellishments like "never set you free.." bit, for example.

I've never thought it was a bad show either. For two people who were sick they still did phenomenal jobs despite this. If it was really that bad then we would be getting a 30th anniversary Rock in Rio DVD instead.

Isn't today about time the press release came out? The Vinyl Box Set has already been released and we are a month and a half away from the release of Hammersmith.

My guess is Thursday or Friday. Right after the tour.

An admin on QOL said that the policy of QPL regarding press releases is 6 weeks before the actual release date. Release date is november 13 so - unless I am mistaking - the press release will be next week.

Regarding the content: it's pretty clear what the dvd/blu ray and CD combo will be. All our hope should be geared towards the second cd. Let's hope it's a full length cd with plenty of songs from rehearsal and sound check and maybe a suprise in terms of a rarely heard live track (and not just 15 minutes)

Seeing as they follow this 40th anniversary route, Hammy is a logical release. Unfortunately. There is no other (virtually) complete concert from 75 to choose from.

Let's all hope and pray that 2016 will blow our minds ;-)
