Same in style of "Let me in your heart again" in the future?

I´d ask myself will Queen ever released songs from their vaults re-worked like they did with LMINYHA from Queen Forever? I´d read a lot about Brian Mays and Roger Taylors dislike about that project and are we honest... it was no real success!

Let Me In Your Heart Again turned out really nicely, and it gave us a new Freddie vocal which is always a nice thing. The marketing on it was awful though, and the way it was released did no favours commercially.

Also, the music industry has moved on from Queen's 1984 sound, and the way record sales work has changed, the radios didn't play the song often and in the UK a song needs to be played over and over again on Radio 1 for it to dent the charts - Radio 1, not 2, not Virgin, not Absolute 80s, but Radio 1. There is no way Radio 1 would have played it - or at least if they did, it didn't seem to be played very often.

The way Queen Forever turned out was a load of crap commercially speaking. Another compilation album was really just scraping the barrel and I'm quite certain it was the record company that did this. I notice the new boxed set is being released on Virgin EMI rather than Universal - is that a Universal imprint or have Queen signed another new deal?

The thing with Queen now, is, it's all about the way their back catalogue is handled. Shoving it out on a compilation album that is supposed to be 'love songs', which conjures up all sorts of images of after dinner pastiche, is not really what Queen were ever about.

The very telling thing about Queen Forever is that it only had two unreleased tracks. Love Kills can hardly be said to be a new track, it's a total rework of the '84 version of the song, not an unreleased Queen version from 1983 or whatever. That most probably means that there is nothing left to work on from Freddie. Ok, you could scrape an album's worth of material from some out-takes, with Roger and Brian finishing off some of the lead vocals, but it would be terrible. One thing that they might consider doing is releasing all the stuff that is on YouTube in its original un-finished form, since it's out their anyway, with a little explanation of what it is, how it came to be and why it wasn't released, but I can't help feeling that these songs should remain unreleased because they're simply not that good. They decided at the time of the Miracle and Innuendo that these unreleased tracks wouldn't work, and it would only be for reasons of sentiment that they tried to finish them now, 25 years later, with Freddie gone and John not taking part.

Nah, they don't need it.

For the sake of fantasy though, I suppose a 'new' Queen album could have a track listing like:

I don't know, it just seems to me that any unreleased Freddie material should probably remain unreleased at this stage, although some kind of Beatles type anthology might have been quite interesting.

I just wonder what was so wrong with LMIYHA that they abandoned it. I suspect "1 Brian song too many too similar" on The Works.

The reason I wonder is because there might be other songs out there that got rejected in a similarly good state, or there might not. THOSE, if they exist, might be the basis for more "new" songs.

GB says in an interview (about Queen Forever), that only LMIYHA was it worth to lay hands on that tape. There are much more in the vaults (demos), but absolutly incomplete and with no structure to build on. So I think Brian May and Roger Taylor think the same way and are not willing to work again on such a project like this. Much more Re-takes like "Love kills (Ballad)", "Under Pressure (Rah mix)" or "I can´t live with you (Rocks re-take)" are possible, sure... but is that really what we wants?

LMIYHA is a wonderful song, in our ears and fan feelings... but sadly no chance to top the charts in 2014/2015.

It was abandoned because Freddie thought it was in the wrong key, the lyrics weren't right, the band weren't getting on, etc, and it was just one of many that fell by the wayside at the time. It's nice they managed to give us a version of it though, personally I love that vocal. I do suspect though that there has been some work done on the vocal in terms of auto tune but I could be wrong.

Although there were only a few bits LMIYHA will always remind me of WHITESNAKE'S HIGA.... and Queen's own HTF.

The song isnt bad but it was likely fully complete. I don't think they'd be keen on releasing the original man on fire or man made paradise (if they even exist in unaltered form) but I hope they'd revisit their vaults and released something before one of them croaks....


This is just another anthology thread in disguise:at their age I dont think they're up for another album.. I just hope they get back to composing in some form or another.

The same counts for "I guess we´re falling out" imho.

The promotion of the single was horrible....but, also, is curious they recreated a song that Freddie didn't like it.
And I agree with Musicland munich about I guess we're falling out...

IGWFO looks like it has MUCH more work to do to complete it than LMIYHA. But then I don't think we know what state LMIYHA was in before it was worked on last year.

Those songs really should've formed the backbone of a proper rarities / unreleased anthology release. Looking at the last few years it's apparent they are uncomfortable releasing unfinished stuff (fair enough) but they really need to see the worth in it. The previously unreleased studio material on the 2011 reissues was a revelation and all put together would've been a fantastic 2 disc set and commercially would've been justified with the inclusion of the new 'Forever' tracks. As it stands, 'Forever' served no one at all and those wanting only the new tracks just got only the new tracks.

After the Deep Cuts compilation and Forever, which tracks have appeared on no compilations now? I think they should be compiled for a christmas release. So in effect, with the Platinum collection, Forever and Deep Cuts 1 - 3 you don't need ANY original albums and the back catalogue is even more cluttered. That's obviously what they want.

It's like they have absolutely no confidence in their material anymore which is staggering. They seem to think that chart positions justify a release, when they are far better than that. Queen is Queen. They've conquered the charts the world over. A release that the fans actually want and talk about excitedly should be the goal now. See Rainbow '74 for that.

Get the back catalogue in order while there's still time.

The "anthology" will absolutely NEVER happen... Until a few of the parties involved are dead. And that's horrible. But it happens in business matters.


Maybe they feel there is no draw of an audience for it without a BIG promotion. Who knows?

TASCHEN just released a Book entitled : "The Charlie Chaplin Archives" .... a full 126 years after Charlie's BIRTH...and despite the price and the author's access to the material in the archives in Vevey, Switzerland,... Nothing.... NOTHING forthcoming from it has been authenticated as new (so far....... it was released a few days ago) It's all a rehash of available material... DESPITE the author having access to several unfinished projects and (Completed) scripts... I don't expect much from QPL just as well... you can wait and wait and wait... but it'll likely never happen.

Mind you, Charlie's work probably had a legal rider preventing it's distribution for x amount of years after his death....BUT....

I was looking forward to this released for two years. But have heard nothing positive to warrant its purchase.

Same goes for "new" QUEEN material

I feel that Queen's demo catalogue will be discarded at some point until someone else secures the rights to it and re releases it as a mix tape ala Michael Jackson's "XSCAPE"

they have clearly voted NO CONFIDENCE in the matter.. I have a couple of magazines from the era (keeping my fingers crossed that they've survived the STORAGE) of the 1990's stating an interest in the release of their studio demos and unfinished work.... even a RECORD COLLECTOR magazine that explicitly stated on the front cover ... the compilation to be released eventually....

Sorry to say it, but naivety of some fans is really staggering. It took them almost 20 years to find something "new" in the vaults worth releasing. Do you really think they will suddenly come up with more? Roger said very clearly - there is nothing left to work on. Also, the alleged commercial failure... The album reached no. 5 in the UK and charted for 18 weeks. No. 38 in the States and top 10 positions across Europe. In an era when people hardly buy compilations anymore, you call it failure? It did better than "Rocks" back in 1997! And finally, the single issue. Well, that's the only bit I can agree with. It was a mess and very confusing, since we basically got three songs released simultaneously, then withdrawn and brought back again. There was no real focus on any of the songs, i.e. radios played mainly "More to Life" initially, while a video was released for "Let Me In" and a picture video for "Love Kills". Proper fucking mess, but having said that I think the likelihood of any of these new songs conquering the charts was very low indeed. It's not 1995 anymore.
