TV recording (1080i) by brianswig.

I watched it and I didn't notice any problems, picture and sound quality are perfect.

I had to split it to 250MB parts, you have to unzip it before you can watch it.

No subtitle tracks but two audio tracks.
Thanks for sharing, but what was the original format of the file?

That's a question only brianswig can answer

original format was .ts. - recorded directly using my Amiko Alien 2 from the UK Freesat stream.
I've simply put the file in video-redo to top and tail it without re-encoding and put it in an mkv container for more compatible playback on a wider variety of machines.

Ah yes, 2 audio options. Forgot about that.
The first will be the audio descriptive for the blind (don't know why, but stream 1 is ALWAYS that on BBC programmes) and the 2nd stream will be the normal soundtrack.

Thanks. Is this better than the one in Popy's thread?

It is essentially the same as both .ts files were almost the same spec. I'm still not entirely sure if either is truly interlaced though, might be Macroblock-adaptive frame-field (MBAFF) This share has ac3 and mpeg audio tracks, ac3 is normal mpeg is narration (if transmitted)

The BBC broadcast 1080i (25), so that's what it must be.
All material delivered to the BBC for HD broadcast MUST be 1920x1080 16:9 at 25 frames/sec interlaced (50 fields) - 1080i/22
Any material that is 1080p/50, must have 2 frame marker phasing for downsampling to 1080i/25.

Whether there's any macroblock adapative field rates or not I have no clue!

I understand the broadcast is 25 fps and 1080i. It was just that some of the ''1080i'' files I compared look like they might not be interlaced. Having said that I have now had time to carefully check this file and Popy's file. They both have signs of interlaced combing, so that's all good. BTW, the additional mpeg audio stream on this one can easily be removed mkvToolNix without re-encoding.

I think if bw claims it's interlaced, you can definitely trust him :-)
Merry Christmas everybody !
