Some of us were lucky enough to have seen them back in the day. But the shows with Lambert don't feel much different.
The Paul Rodgers tours were good but lacked a certain spark and could have worked the same without the Queen name

Well, I'm perfectly happy about the release
Me too, if it takes place, that's it.
If they want to tour under the name of Queen, Lambert is a fantastic choice.
They dismissed the posibilty of touring with a Robbie Williams in his prime because he was a "pop act", and two years later he did the awesome Knebworth concerts. A guy who is a real fan and has demostrated his love for Queen in public.
Instead they colaborated with Paul Rodgers, a true rocker who wasn't interested in Queen or Freddie and wasn't able to memorize the songs after two tours.
So if the thing with Lambert is going well and they are happy about it, i say go, go, go!

Like i said earlier, I'd give it a shot. I've had the two live albums with Paul Rodgers, and they were alright, especially Return Of The Champions, I won't mind a live release with Adam.

Wonder if they will release a Queen concert along with Fred.. Didn't QPL want to release Knebworth to accompany the Q+AL Sonisphere concert?
Felt like I heard about that somewhere..

There is an American from San Diego who is currently competing on America's Got Talent who was very impressive with his first audition singing "Somebody To Love" and Marc Martel does a great job in the Queen Extravaganza band and sounds very much like Freddie, but after watching many, many QAL shows since 2011, both live and on youtube, I feel that Adam does the best job with Queen music since Freddie. He has the showmanship and the vocal range for performing in arenas and stadiums. But because his own solo music doesn't sell like the autotuned singers out there, he doesn't get those venues. I'm thrilled that he gets to perform LIVE with Brian and Roger and Spike, Rufus and Neil. They've become a very tight, cohesive group!
Togg wrote: I saw Freddie several times, I bet most of you didn't. Those that did like lyself were luck enough to see the greatest showman, but sadly he is no more and it was decades ago.... let it go
Yet Lambert's still singing the songs that were written and sang by Freddie (as well as the songs written by the other members).... from decades ago.
The reason that the overwhelming majority of people are on this forum is because of Queen (as opposed to Queen+).... from decades ago.
If people had let it go, they wouldn't even bother to sign in to this forum in the first place. No one would give two shits about Queen if people had let it go, let alone Queen+.

I've seen Queen+ Lambert, live, and it feels like a tribute show. Queen never felt like a tribute show.

In a way, the QAL shows ARE like a tribute show because they always give proper tribute to the one and only Freddie. The difference is that you still have two very amazing original members of the band performing at a high level of excellence!

My 2 cents:
Freddie Mercury very sadly died. John Deacon retired. Brian & Roger want to keep the band (and songs) going. They find a new singer.
Paul Rogers was OK for a time but ultimately didn't fit. Adam Lambert was asked to join and most definitely fits in!!
Now we can continue to enjoy Queen live. And they're brilliant - but obviously different!
And the reason I started this thread was because I'm excited about a potential forthcoming DVD. Lovely stuff!! :-)
P.S. I met Neil Fairclough recently and chatted for some time. Not only is he an amazing bassist but you won't find a nicer man who is also passionate about the music of Queen.

Was this shown on TV and did a copy ever surface? (Yes, I know I'm being lazy and not checking my collection)
If it was, then they can stick it and give us an unseen concert.

Indeed, I'm surprised it's taken this long ( if they are indeed going to release it)
With Paul Rodgers they released three live DVD's but so far since 2012 with Lambert nothing. It's long over due and as most of us know they have shows in the can

As apposed to what. . . .
Kiss touring without Pete Criss and Ace Freley. Roger Walters touring The Wall without Floyd, David Gilmour playing large chunks of classic Floyd, Status Quo with two original members ( down to one at present) AC/DC with one original member fronted by Axl. . . . .

... Brian is still OK, but Roger keeps dragging.

I believe it was broadcast live in Japan but nowhere else. This is the original that has been remixed for viewing at the upcoming Freddie 70th birthday event on September 4th.

"Queen and Adam Lambert Fans Unite To Raise Funds and Awareness For The Mercury Phoenix Trust"
"In 2010 The Mercury Phoenix started a project called Freddie For A Day, which is a day held every year on Freddie’s birthday (September 5th) in order to help fight AIDS worldwide. On this day people are encouraged to celebrate the life of Freddie Mercury by bringing people together to dress as Freddie in order to raise awareness and funds for the Mercury Phoenix Trust. Although there is a day, people are encouraged to hold their own Freddie For A Day on any day of the year.
To support the Freddie For A Day project, Adam Lambert posted a video for something he calls the 7070 Campaign in order to help, while adding a bit of humor to the clip in order to lighten up the mood. He wants to know, can you raise 70 pounds, dollars, euros or yen in the lead up to Freddie’s 70th birthday on September 5th?"
