If Bob wrote The Miracle is flawless it means this song is flawless :)
Flattering, thanks !
But alas, I'm just one person, and my word isn't gospel.
The Miracle as an album is one of my least favorites, the first two tracks are weak by Queen standards, Invisible Man is horrible even though the guitar solo is great, and My Baby Does is Me is weak. I do like the title track, Brian May has good taste once it comes to Freddie songs. He likes MIH also one of my favorites. The Miracle does have a few other good ones. Every Queen album has solid tracks.
Other tracks I like on it are I Want It All, Was It All Woth It? And Breakthru/scandal. I think it edges out Hot Space for me because it has more stand out songs. HS has Under Pressure and then a bunch of middle of the road or poor songs. I do like Cool Cat and Back Chat, but not as much as the stronger Miracle songs. Rain Must Fall is a guilty pleasure for me, I wonder if John wrote this song with Freddie in mind.
I Want It All is a great Rocker, with a capital C. On the downside, it could faired better with a slightly less keyboard or synth. Freddie's voice is quite stunning, very strong!
Another vote for the ending of the Miracle being good. It's weird on first listen but I like it a lot. Maybe could've been a longer fade out (CMI - maybe something for your Miracle reissue?) and placed at the end of side one and a nice finale.
I can see the problem with Dear Friends. A bit sickly, but again, I can live with that.
