Strangely every time I hear the Ogre Battle BBC intro it reminds me of the first version I had on the bootleg Golden Demos - I know most of it was fake but I miss it. Anyone got a rip of it?
Yup, I do.

Thanks to Olivier for ripping his silver.

Possibly the most useless Queen bootleg ever released - tape speeds tampered with, one channel removed, and tape hiss added. The only somewhat interesting track is The Millionaire Waltz, as the lead vocal (and most of the lead guitar) has been mostly removed with a pre-digital frequency cut with half decent results.

Enjoy the nostalgia !

I know I don't post here very much but I read the posts very frequently. I know it's hard sometimes but you just have to ignore rocknrolllover. He is very obviously a troll and you are giving him just the attention he is looking for. If we can all find a way to ignore him, he will go away.
That's easy to say when you're a lurking bystander and not the target.

But the thing is - he hasn't gone away. He has been trolling this site for 5 years. All the other trolls have been banned, but this guy is the exception because he is occasionally rational. But even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Also, aren't there mods on this site???
Basically, no - except for in a few extreme cases. The problem with this website is that there are no clear cut rules over what constitutes acceptable dialogue. And as a result, it has attracted its fair share of idiots, and even when they have been banned, it's almost always after way too long. This website is basically a petri dish, because literally anything is allowed to grow for a while.

Amazing - thanks for the Golden Demos!

I don't know if it's been discussed before, but what are people's thoughts that some BBC sessions were actually done at Trident? Obviously we have the tracks that utilise the Trident backing tracks, but the remainder of the ones that were actually claimed to be done at the BBC could easily have been knocked off at Trident ahead of a scheduled session - which was something that has been done rather more widely than bands would like us to think.

The trouble is that buffoons like "him / her" crave acknowledgement. And we're all guilty of responding to them and paying them notice at one time or another for little more than sport; perhaps its time that everyone agrees to NEVER reply or quote them in any way, shape or form. Even these people would, surely, gain nothing from posting destructive one-liners that get no reaction and, eventually, disappear? Banning them will only lead to them re-registering under a different alias.

When wonderful individuals feel that they can provide content for the rest of us Queenzone is simply an incredible resource. Hearing that one of these people is likely to pull out is just so incredibly sad. I feel terrible that I pretty much only exist on this board to take; I have nothing of value to give at all and really do wish I still had the library of material I used to have in order to be able to give back.

Bob, et al, thank you SO very much for being the giving people that you are and I hope that you continue to do so for as long as you feel you can; christ, without you guys we only have QPL to rely on.

thanx for this nice piece of music. i'm glad to hear the version i know for so many years without noise.
.
about RRL: yes! he is a pain in the ass and he doesn't appreciate this kind of share. i would say it's kind of 'verbal terrorism' her, not trolling. at least that's the effect. by his continuing mis-behaviour he forces the donators of the real 'yummie-stuff' to lose interest in sharing what is highly appreciated in the community.

Interesting - do you have any examples?

But you do bring up an interesting point. It is said that the first four BBC sessions were recorded at Langham Studios, but nearly half the material wasn't done there - the backing tracks are the album versions, done at Trident, like you said. And likewise for sessions 5 and 6 at Maida Vale - the former's backing tracks are identical to the Sheer Heart Attack album (save for the Flick Of The Wrist solo), and they were recorded at four different studios, not Maida Vale.

The Beatles and Zeppelin's BBC sessions were legit BBC sessions, but nearly half of Queen's weren't. Why is this? And did any other bands do it this way?

Here, yes, unfortunately. But most other forum engines are able to ban IP addresses.

Very kind words - much appreciated !

It's all the more tragic that this place is so dysfunctional. Think of how much better it could be if there was simple moderation. Trolls have pushed away so many good and knowledgeable forum members over the years.

Off the top of my head, Blur and Kenikie (sp?) have submitted demo sessions as BBC radio sessions and the same have appeared on official releases.

The Kinks used album backing tracks on some sessions.

Bowie only did 'live' sessions in the early days and are usually notable for being pretty rough sounding - something that can not be said about Queen's sessions.

One exception is a 1968 session he did which one track ended up on an official release in the 80s (When I'm Five) as the studio version. Bowie apparently took the reel home with him after the session and a copy was not in the BBC archive. Or, of course, he came in with it in the first place which seems likely as the session have orchestra and 5 tracks were done. Quite a hefty task on the BBC rate using session players.

Bauhaus are notable for using BBC session tracks on official albums - Double Dare, Third Uncle, Ziggy Stardust - again, perhaps it was actually the other way around.

Thanks a lot, Bob!

I have one suggestion. I do not expect full moderation on this website. The ones with the power to do so do not seem to have the time to do so or to think that it would be a good idea. I fully respect that.

So, why don't we use our signatures showed after each of our posts to mark those users we would not respond to?

That would most certainly have some sort of a "moderation" effect. It would at least be a statement and a warning for those not behaving properly.

I do wish it does not end up in some sort of war, a situation in which I would gladly withdraw my suggestion and apologize for bringing it up.

Cheers,
