Time for a funny Freddie story.
So, Freddie took us on his leased private jet ...Elvis's old "Lisa Marie" for concerts in Phoenix, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. He had a fight with his recent boyfriend (what else is new). So Lee Nolan and I went out in Phoenix with the purpose in mind of finding Freddie a date in Los Angeles. Well, I found this very gorgeous bartender and invited him on the jet for the short trip to L.A. Freddie met him but thought I had invited him along for me. I planned to surprise him later and send the guy to his room. Anyway, that same day, the fight with his boyfriend was mended and he was to meet up with Freddie in LA. So, not wanting to disappoint this boy, I brought him to my room...LOL. Freddie was happy and I was happy and I hope Lee was happy somehow. [/QUOTE]
Dear Thor!
Thanks a lot für sharing your memories of Freddie with us. Great stories. Nice to read !
It seems to me that Freddie had fights with his boyfriends very often. How come? What were the reasons for it? Did Freddie start the quarrels ?
Thank you for answering !

Mercury Roadrunner hello,
I think I have mentioned before that Freddie loved New York because despite being a major city, he could walk down the street undetected for the most part. Therefore, the freedom that the city offered him was priceless to him.
Favorite places? He had an authentic Chinese Restaurant that he liked a lot. I think it was called "Madame Woo's" but I may be wrong. He really liked the major club of the time, "The Saint" where the dance floor had an actual planetarium projector and a large ceiling dome. Stars, planets and galaxies were frequently providing an other than worldly atmosphere on the dance floor.. He liked going there because he was never hounded for autographs or pictures and could enjoy the club just like anyone else. And he liked "Uncle Charlies" where I worked part time while going to school.

Hello again Mike Hunt,
The story I got from Freddie was that Montserrat Caballe was intimidated by him. As I was not a witness to the actual event in Spain, I'll go with what Peter Freestone said because he WAS there.

Hi luthorn,
In New York, being a city where people did not generally go out until 1 or 2 AM on Saturday nights, we often skipped breakfast and went right to brunch/lunch on Sunday afternoon. We went occasionally to a restaurant but mostly ate at Freddie's apartment.where Peter Freestone (Phoebe) would whip up hearty, delicious English favorites. Beef Wellington and Crispy Pork were two of my favorites.

Seed_Of_Rhy hi,
During the later years, I was only an occasional visitor to London. One thing I do know I have mentioned before. He was so looking forward to a Disney animated movie named "Delilah" which featured an animated version of his beloved cat of the same name. That idea was scrapped probably due to Freddie's failing health. I think Innuendo was planned to be his last work. Heavily costumed videos could probably not be done twice in a row. "Who Wants to Live Forever" was an appropriate farewell, showing his fierce acceptance of his fate.

Hello jrd1951,
Having participated in some of the tour of 1980-1981, I know for a fact that it was the "Queen over America" tour. At least that is what my backstage pass said.

Villiers hello,
I am not seeing your question, could you repeat it please?

Sure, here it was- way back on page 5:
Thor, good to see you. I just wanted to reach out and let you know that the book you're referring to by Lesley Ann Jones has been proven false by loads of people involved with Queen, including but not limited to Jacky Smith, Chris "Crystal" Taylor, Peter Straker, Jim Hutton and many more. Most take issue with the Barbara V part of the book, as Freddie told Chris Taylor and Jim Hutton that he never had a sexual relationship with her, and so did Barbara. That was part of the issue with the channel 5 docudrama with John Blunt, actually. Brian May and Freddie's mother and sister tried to stop it from happening as it involved Lelsey and included false information about Freddie including Barbara. Funny thing is, Barbara was on The Untold Story documentary which featured his family, Jim, Mary, Peter Freestone, the band, and many friends and Barbara herself never claimed to have been a lover. Peter Freestone (as I'm sure you know) has written that he too doesn't believe it was true. She only seemed to claim she had a sexual relationship with him to Lesley who is known as being the most innacurate biographer of all time. Chris Taylor has called her out on many lies (most being Barbara) she's told. Apparently, Lesley got caught claiming to be places with Queen that she wasnt....and according to those who knew Freddie and are active on social media, she is a tabloid writer and nothing more.
Barbara also once claimed Freddie tried to kill her in her sleep by choking her around the neck in a trance. So, let's all remember to take that woman's word with a giant grain of salt. I see no reason why Freddie would not have told his friends he was romantically involved with a woman if he had been. And I also don't see why he would tell people that he hadn't been involved with her, if he had. Theres no doubt they were close friends, but lovers....highly doubtful.
With that in mind, and with the question of his sexuality always being brought up... Mary, Peter Freestone, Straker, Diana M, and the band all seemed to agree that he was gay. Peter said he never saw him take a woman home for sex in all the time he knew Freddie and as you know Paul Prenter said the same. Actually, he said "Freddie would sooner walk on water than sleep with a woman". Of course, his word is often dismissed due to his choices that later hurt Freddie greatly. So my question is: I know you mentioned believing Freddie was 99% gay and 1%bi, but after having pretty much ruled out Barbara as a lover, would you still say he was 1% bi? Everyone in his circle seems to believe he was simply gay. I must admit, all signs point to that. Theres nothing wrong with it, of course. I'd just like to hear your thoughts on it with this information.

Hey Shakespeare's Sister,
Well, all I can say about the boyfriend fights is that Freddie seemed to get "fired up" after a fight and this gave him emotional strength to use creatively. He really was at his best when making-up after a big fight. It made him feel alive and potent.

Villiers Hi again,
I do remember the question now. I have been flipping back to page 6 to answer missed questions but did not go back to page 5, sorry.
I think I stated that Freddie was only 1% (IF EVEN THAT MUCH) bi, I never witnessed any bisexual behavior but I don't think that rules it out
completely. Any way you look at it, less than 1% does not suggest an active bisexual life. Plus, I did not know him in the early days of Queen.

Funny Freddie Statement:
When we asked him how he could keep the concert crowds so enthusiastic throughout an entire concert, he replied, "Dahling, it's easy. When you have absolutely Nothing more to Give... Give them Wardrobe"

Thanks. Definitely interesting. One last question, if you don't mind. Were the NY Daughters familiar with his London pals? David Evans and David Minns, Peter Straker and so-on? I know you said you visited him in London from time to time, but I'd be curious to know if his London group and NY group mingled as well. Minns seemed to be out of the picture by the early 80s, but he was back around later in his life. Did your paths ever cross?

Hey again Villiers,
I did meet Peter Straker from time to time. Another good friend who's name I forgot was the guy who used to work for Yoko Ono and had countless funny stories about her Diva ways and the boy Shawn being spoiled rotten. I also met Dave Clark (from the Dave Clark Five) and Cliff Richard, known in America only for singing "Suddenly" with Olivia Newton John but I hear he was called the "British Elvis" back home. We all enjoyed the "Garden Lodge" live-in friends/workers, most of all Phoebe.

Thought of another semi ridiculous question...
Regarding home gaming systems/consoles.
The video game market exploded in the mid 80's-90's..... Did Freddie ever indulge in video games/ arcade games? I've seen the rushes of "The making of ONE VISION" from DoRo on the Magic Years documentary. ..you can see Brian playing pinball.
Did Freddie have any video game habits? If so did he have a favorite?
