Hi RBoulain,
The problem of my license being in California and not Nevada has lessened my chances of being allowed to do any patient care. At this time Nevada is not offering any temporary recognition of out of state licenses. They say they have enough of their own volunteers and for legal reasons they cannot waive the licensing rules.
So, it looks like I will not be needed and that's fine. As long as all of those 500+ injured victims is being taken care of, I have no problem staying home.

When you first mentioned volunteering your time, I had wondered if California and Nevada had some kind of reciprocal licensing agreement for nursing professionals. Apparently they don't, although it was heartening to hear that they have enough of their own volunteers because that means the spirit of volunteerism is strong...and that's a great thing. You were part of that spirit!
So here is a rather fluffy Freddie question.....Did you ever ask Freddie why he never wanted to learn how to drive? Apparently he tried once, maybe twice, but quickly abandoned the venture. I do understand how wonderfully convenient it must been for him to have a full time driver, but there are other benefits to driving....freedom being one of them...not being dependent on others....immediately going where you want, when you want. For someone as private as Freddie was, not being able to drive removed some of that privacy. Maybe it was something as simple as he was a nervous driver and didn't want to deal with the stress of learning to overcome that? Just curious because most people look forward to getting their driver's license.
Hope you have a wonderful visit with your sister. Last week my brother flew to town for a few days. Always nice to chat with the "sibs".

Thank you for your well wishes. I love my annual October visit from my sister. I've got 4 days of carefully planned activities that I know she will enjoy. And, we will be looking for yet another sign from our beloved Mother, which seems to come every October.

Yes, I'm glad at least I tried to be of some help. I am so against gun violence and my heart goes out to ALL the victims, passed and injured.
Now, as to your Freddie question. I think he was happy not to drive himself. For example, he could be dropped off at any location in New York
and London and not have to spend 1/2 hour (or more) looking for a parking spot. He never expressed sadness to me that he never learned to drive.
Only once did I rent a car in London. It was so difficult to park, that I Ieft it parked and unused for the whole week. Whatever "freedom" he lost,

I don't think I ever met his son at Studio 54 however. Did he follow his father's profession?

I wanted to ask you something, and if Im abusing your courtesy just tell me as I don't stop asking things lol. Did Freddie ever tell you about a big dream he had? Like some big achievement he wanted to reach? I know he looked for his big real love but besides that. Even if he was someone so succesful in the music industry he (for what I could read) was also curious about everything around him: musically, art-related or just about any other thing he dreamed big about?

The only thing that sticks in my mind was how excited Freddie was to collaborate with Michael Jackson in LA. After it broke down, I'm sure he was very disappointed but never really brought the topic up again. As I have said, Freddie never dwelled on the negative when I knew him.

I read a book on Michael Jackson that talked briefly about the Freddie collaboration and it said that although nobody knew for sure what really went wrong between the two of them, some years after Freddie died Michael was visiting Switzerland and requested a car to take him to see Freddie's statue. According to the driver, Michael told him to give him a minute and he stood in front of the statue in silence with his hands behind his back and seemed to be appreciating the piece. When he got back into the car, the driver asked what he thought about it and Michael replied "I just said a prayer. Take me back to my room, please. The sun is starting to come up". Michael may not have gotten Freddie's sense of humor but I took that to mean he probably still at least admired Freddie's work. I wonder what Freddie would think about that.
